This hotel is very clean and well located on the Vasilievsky island which is connected to the city center by (at least) two long bridges. Rooms were decorated beautifully and had parquet floor. The rooms have A/C, powerful hairdryer, safe, iron(!) and ironing board, electric kettle for cooking water for tea/coffee, mugs, tea, hot chocolate and instant coffee, complimentary bottled water and pillows in three sizes. Free wi-fi also which worked well at least from floor 3 where we were staying. The hotel also had free sauna heated in the evenings up until 11 PM which we didn't have time to test. Breakfast buffet was awesome in my standards. They had more than I could eat. A glass of sparkling wine was included in the breakfast price but we didn't feel like having alcohol in the morning. The staff was friendly and we were able to check in hours before our real check in time because our rooms were ready already! Also, when we had to check out we were able to leave our baggage in a locked baggage room while we headed for the city to do the last souvenir shopping. Really, what else would one need?
On a good day it is possible to walk to the city center across the bridges but there is also a metro station within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The metro takes you straight to the main shopping street Nevsky Prospekt which is only one stop away and on the same metro line. It is worth noting that the metro line to the Vasilievsky island stops operating around 12:15 AM and the bridges open at night at 1:25 for the ship traffic. So make sure you get yourself on the right side of the Neva river for the night. There is a biggish supermarket right next to the metro building (http://www.perekrestok.ru/) and it is open 24/7.
