We booked 2 separate rooms for 2 nights with my manager in advance. Our bookings were confirmed.
When we reached at Agni hotel around 7pm on the 25th of June, they said they only have 1 apartment room available for us! Reason advised was an unexpected leakage problem due to air conditioning collapsed in the morning.
Only after our return we found out that was a total lie; the hotel was simply overbooked!
The apartment offered to us was in a 200yr old building next door under renovation. The condition of the apartment was terrible; no wi-fi & drinking water bottle as promised. It stunk badly with lots of old furniture.
The staff at the front desk tried really hard to convince us to share the apartment on the 1st night! We kindly rejected and asked for at least 1 more separate room for me. (My manager had to stay in the dull, old, dirty apartment for 2 nights. He is still itching on the legs)
They made me wait over an hour and could not offer an alternative, suitable hotel same location. We were tired of waiting with our luggage and run too late for our arranged working dinner.
Thanks to my friend living in SPB, where I had to stay over on the 1st night since neither Agni nor booking.com was on time to place me in an alternative nearby hotel for the 1st night.
I stayed at Agni the next day; which was in the room I booked inside the hotel. That was fair.
Moreover, when we were checking out on the 26th, we figured out that the hotel actually charged even my manager's stay for 2 nights on my personal credit card from the 1st night without letting us know and by signing the credit card statement over 400€ themselves!
Saddest thing is that I have lost plenty of precious time explaining booking.com customer service team what has happened afterwards and asked simply for compensation for the inconvenience we had to bear. Although booking.com acknowledges we suffered very much for our confirmed bookings, they are still actless to come up with any solid solution to cover up for the dissatisfaction we had. We basically lost our trust and the sympathy we had for booking.com. It is obvious they do not actually have empathy for their customers and the desire for 100% customer satisfaction.

Room Tip: Especially during the white nights season, hotels are full. Double check your confirmed booking with the hotel before your arrival. Make sure you will get exactly the room you booked on booking.com. Instead of proper hotel rooms, apartments mainly in old building are quite common in Russia. Be careful!

I have been travelling all around the world and I had the worse 2 nights ever last week in this hotel. Terrible room with smell, ac, tv, internet were not working. Insects everywhere. Staff is very unprofessional and they didn't help to any problem I faced. Never ever stay in this hotel.

This little hotel is a great find. It packs everything you need into some fairly small rooms with decent beds and a desk. The bathroom is also tiny, but has a shower stall, hair dryer, heated towel rack, and is very clean.
The breakfast served is quite good. There is a coffee machine, hot tea, several juices and milk. There is ample selection in the food area - breads and biscuits, scrambled and fried eggs, sausages and other meats, salad, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, selection of cheeses, yoghurts and dry cereals. There was a very nice hot cereal every morning, too.
The location is perfectly central, and you can easily walk to the train station, great restaurants, and tons of shopping. Right next door is a mini market that is open 24/7. If you need ice, try going to the KFC around the corner, or the Kofe Haus across the street. Both places gave me cups of ice for our cocktail parties on the balcony.
All in all, a 5 star time in a 3 star facility, greatly facilitated by the friendly and accommodating service staff of Club Hotel Agni.

Room Tip: Room 202 has a balcony which is quite nice for late night people-watching in the summer.

It says 4 stars at the hotel entrance but realistically it should be a 3 star. Location is great as its just off Nevsky Prospect and every thing seems to be walking distance from there. There is no lift in the building and reception is on first floor. Breakfast which is served in a small restaurant area next to the reception is basic and decent.

The best thing about the hotel is LOCATION and location and location in the city centre, it's in great place just few steps to the main street Nevsky Prospekt and in walking distance to main attractions at Kazan Cathedral, Winter Palace, State Museum and Ermitage etc. But it's just not proper to be rated as 4 stars or 3 stars. The staffs were nice and friendly, but all was just standard feel at the hotel. The room was expensive for the quality and very basic service we got in this hotel., St. Petersburg maybe more expensive than Moscow. It's standard room in an old building hotel, smelled like an old room, standard design, and small modest shower room.. The breakfast buffet was basic in one buffet table..but they always keep on restock and refill the buffet. and it was ok breakfast that we happily enjoyed... but all was ok. We loved staying in St Petersburg.. and 5 days in beautiful Petersburg was not suffecient to explore the city and subburband areas..
