It was easier to find than I thought it would be based on other reviews I had read and it really was just around the corner from the Winter Palace. We were greeted by Tatiana who was lovely, she couldn't do enough for us, very helpful and great spoken English. The rooms are basic but have what you need. Breakfast was nice and Juliana even got up early for us to make sure we had toast and tea before our early flight back to Moscow. Please stay at this place it is perfect for a short stay in St Petersburg.

The biggest challenge for Nevsky Prospect 3 is finding it. All you have is a tiny sign by a gate. Even the cab drivers do not know where it is. Suggest letting the B&B arrange an airport or train pickup to avoid any problems.

The location is in the courtyard of a 200+ year old building through an entrance that is scary. Crumbling concrete and hordes of feral cats await your trip to the door and up the stairs. The change once inside is amazing. A very comfortable room with a good full cooked breakfast awaits. The hosts can assist with any planning you need with both directions and maps/explanations. They seem to know who does what and when they are open.

The great part is this place is a 3 minute walk from the Hermitage! Also another minute to get to the Neva River. Would go back in a minute!

This St. Petersburg Guesthouse was perfect for our needs, budget and location. It's a quiet place tucked in back of Nevsky Prospect (this is where you want to be!). Yuliana and Tatiana were so kind and welcoming. Even before we arrived, they were responding to our email inquiries. They give good directions about how to find their Guesthouse. Our room was clean and spotless, a great shower…and the bathroom had a heated floor…wonderful for late October weather! The breakfast was simple but personal and adequate…choice of eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, coffee, juice (yes, real orange or apple juice). Both spoke excellent English and they provided a map with suggestions for restaurants. We followed their tip about how to travel to Pushkin (Metro, then by bus). We were also able to print out our airplane boarding passes plus they gave us guidance about how to travel to the airport by Metro (then by bus) instead of an expensive taxi.

The Hermitage and Admiralty are mere steps away on foot…check it out on the map. A new Metro station is about a two minute walk. Note: the Metro in St. Petersburg has English Signage!

We have traveled to over 70 countries and seek out economical places to stay. For our needs, we carry two travel books: DK Eyewitness and Lonely Planet. We completely agree with the high recommendation the Lonely Planet gave Nevsky 3.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Guest House Nevsky 3 and we think you will too!

I had googled this place and other contributors had put up photographs so we were well prepared for the location. The place is located on the main street in St Petersburg, but in a courtyard just off the street. The Hemitage and Winter Palace two minutes away. The room size was great. Breakfast was good and there was adequate choice. There were plenty of choices or food and many attractions within close walking distance. The place was clean and the ladies were very helpful with everything. A great guest house.

You can't beat the location of the clean and compact guest house, right t the top of Nevsky Prospect opposite the Hermitage and Admiralty. The rooms are probably bigger than most I have stayed in in London. It's a bit daunting to find but once inside its a snug home. The ladies who run it change daily and its nice to know that there are staff there overnight. The area is chockers with great cheap Russian, Georgian and Armenian eateries. The breakfast was basic and filling. Our mattress was a bit lumpy but that was the only quibble. Stay here and spend your money on other things!

family of 3 spent 2 nights at Guest House Nevsky 3 on their first visit to Saint Petersburg.

pros: clean room, quiet courtyard, friendly managers, breakfast included, super close to the Winter Palace/restaurants/bank to exchange currency

cons: expensive for a simple room (US $200/night), slightly farther away from the center (Gostinyy dvor) so requires lots of walking or metro, managers are less knowledgeable about tourist attractions than a hotel concierge but are willing to look up/call for you, the managers also take turns sleeping in the kitchen overnight so we felt slightly guilty coming back later at night or getting drinking water from the kitchen.

I would definitely recommend this guest house if you want somewhere clean and quiet and do not mind walking all over the city. Remember that it is a guest house, not a hotel.

We paid $200 US dollars 4 a Very, very small room. While others comment on location, St Petersburg is very spread out. Both women who manage the place were seemingly pleasant but one spoke no English & used a translator for everything & answered yes to things she really did not understand. There are no restaurants close by & most attractions still required a train, or other form of transportation. My husband & I have traveled to over 75 countries, and I've never written a review like this! We have been to many 3rd world countries, enjoy smaller boutique type hotels in the 3 star category. I can't imagine most travelers even sticking it out for the 3 nights we did. The managers slept on roll away cot, did not shower & wore the same clothes for 3 days. A very basic breakfast was served, but I question the cleanliness of it! In Moscow I booked a room at the Hilton due to arriving late at night, which is typically more expensive then St Petersburg only costing me $129. US dollars. It had all the large hotel amenities, to put this in perspective! I have no idea how this guest house received the reviews it did. I'm a hearty traveler who can tolerate alot. I even got claustrophbic in the shower, it was sooo small. I am 5`3, 104 pounds! Beware if you choose this place to stay, Linda Griffin

Room Tip: Location is good, value for the money better spent elsewhere
