This hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Hermitage & Nevski Prospect. It's a bit tucked away but is therefore nice and quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cost is very reasonable for St P. There's a restaurant across the road - poor sevice, no english, but good and reasonably priced food. There are other restaurants in nearby streets. Free wi-fi available.

It' a small place. Breakfasts are OK-ish - nothing special. Remember, this is Russia & you are not paying a fortune.

We came on the 3 day visa and booked this hotel ourselves. It turned out to be very close to the bus drop-off and pick up for the boat and that was perfect. The hotel is a very typical 3 star hotel and we got a really reasonable price. The room was good size and quiet.

The hotel was not very good at helping us with tourist attractions. I think that since the 3 day visa is fairly new the tourist infrastructure hasn't caught up yet.

Dear Guests,
Thank you for your review and thank you for all your comments. I am sorry we failed to properly help you with sightseeing arrangements and apologize. We have our own tour operating company and there should not have been any problems. I shall find out what happened and see to it that similar occurrences never happened in future.
We hope some time will pass and you will want to return to our beautiful city, and probably will choose our hotel again.

Highly recommend this small and well located hotel in beautiful St. Petersburg. Room was large and very clean and free in room Wi-Fi was provided. Olga the front desk clerk was extremely helpful and gave us directions to all sites and helped us with airport transport and other details. This was our first visit to St. Petersburg and we asked a lot of questions and it never seemed to be too much for Olga. Vladamir was also a great help with finding a grocery store and local restaurants. We walked to all sites easily and found the city safe and welcoming. Thank you Olga and Vladamir and staff for making it a memorable stay.

Let me say that I expected more from this hotel after reading all the tripadvisor reviews. I waited until we’re experienced all hotels of our Russian tour to write the review, in case some of the frustrations were related to the local specificities (and some were). But overall it fell quite short of expectations.
Short version: Minus on the value (I paid about $170 for a double room) and really bad breakfast. Location OK, but a bit isolated. Nice staff overall. Big (but outdated) rooms. Really bad cleaning!
Now the details:
The location: It’s not far from some of the big attractions. Hermitage is about 10-15 min walk. Nevsky Prospect about 25-30 min. It’s on a quiet street that looked like the type of street one wouldn’t take at night. However we constantly saw policemen there (there is a station nearby, I think). On the other hand, there is a significant drawback: The area feels a bit too quiet. Restaurants, Cafés and Bars are not common. We lucked out when we discovered the Restaurant Teplo (reviewed), which was only 10 min walking from the hotel. If I were to come back I would select a location on one of the streets off Nevsky Prospect, to be close to everything without the noise of the main boulevard.
Quietness: Very Quiet street. Funny enough, there is construction going on very closely (and even at night!) , but this didn’t really bother us. And I am a light sleeper. The noise inside the room is minimal. The only noise that can be annoying is the entrance door to the hallway. Each floor is separated in two sections, each one of them controlled by a door. When this door slams it’s quite annoying. So I would avoid the rooms like 501, 507 and 508. We stayed in room 504 and had no complaints. Mind you, this system is a bit annoying. A member of our group stayed on the same floor but in a different section but we couldn’t get to them as our same floor card key did not open the door to that section. A hustle.
Rooms: Big. Nice surprise. But very basic. Bed was very comfortable though, with nice sheets. Very small TV (actually one in the ``living room`` section too) with bad reception. Couldn’t completely closed the curtain so light was coming in early in the morning. Someone (a previous guest?) put tape on the curtains in hope of making it stick to the wall. Tough luck.
Cleaning: One of the worst experiences ever. It started on day one with our two glasses not cleaned (among other things). They were very visible next to the TV. One of them had a trace of orange juice, so you can’t miss it. We thought she didn’t see them, and that was the end of it. Next day? Same scenario. And oh, the toilet wasn`t cleaned at all. We had to do it ourselves. I complained to the receptionist who apologized and changed the glasses promptly. Next day? The room was spoteless and actually did smell like it was cleaned.
Staff: Quite nice, welcoming and helpful staff at the reception, and in the kitchen.
Brakfast…well…let me just say that were almost rolling on the floor when we saw the notice on the breakfast table ``it is forbidden to take items out of the buffet``. First, you had to find something edible to take out (or even eat in). And who would want to take THAT stuff out? Quantity and quality lacked. And I have been around the world and saw some ``exotic`` food in budget places (Egypt, Morrocco, India, Jordan, …). Plus I have lived years in the Old USSR. I know what a Russian breakfast looks like. Let`s not even get into details. It’s probably not as bad as I make it sound but is was a big disappointment. We were really not looking forward to the breakfast.
Visa support: when I asked for a letter to support the Visa (the Russian Gvt requests an invitation letter from every hotel you stay in), I had to pay about $35 per person. All the other hotels I stayed in provided the service for free. I was told that’s because the Nevsky hotel is so cheap that the cost of the Visa is not built in. Hum,``cheap`` is quite debatable.
I would not recommend this hotel. Which is a shame as the staff is nice, room size is good and the location isn`t that bad. But I`m sure you can find a better package in St Peter.

Room Tip: Don't take rooms like 501, 507 and 508. Next to a slamming door.

We have stayed at this hotel at the end of July 2011. It is very cosy, nicely decorated, and we had a beautiful view from our window. Even in basic rooms you have a small living room with a TV set and a sofa, and a bath-tube in the bathroom. The air-condition was working perfectly (so unusual for most of the hotels). Good soundproof windows prevented us from all the street noise. The staff was helpfull and friendly. Breakfast was fine though nothing special, and, what is very important for people on vacation, was served until 11 am, so we could have a good morning sleep... The breakfast room was very stylish, it was a pleasure just to stay there. There was a computer with free Internet there. The only thing we did not appreciate was the poor quality of cleaning - the bed-linen was not even changed once in our 4-days stay! The floor, especially under the beds, was also quite dirty. However, the towels were changed regulary. Our overall impression of the hotel is very positive, and we definitely recommend it.

We were there for 5 nights, had a big quiet room at the top floor, with air conditioning. This hotel is very good quality for the price. The breakfast is correct with some russian specialities and "traditional" breakfast, the staff is friendly. We could walk to the main sites of the town and are 2 minutes from the Neva river. We really enjoyed our stay since we also had beautiful weather.
