“Very good, but not perfect”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

Myself and my girlfriend came here for a taste of something different, and that's exactly what we got! Being from the UK Azerbaijani food is something we had never tried, we were not disappointed however. After the initial amazement at what is a fantastically decorated restaurant we sat down and ordered our food. Opting for a few plates to share from the extensive menu we were pleasantly surprised when served our food, despite one of the chicken dishes (some form of schnitzel type dish!!- unexpected) being a touch bland, the mutton and beef with onions and the sweet pilau were a delight and up there with some of the best eastern food I have tried. What stopped this being 5 stars was chicken dish we had being mediocre. Overall I would recommend visiting this restaurant. It was very good food at a reasonable price 2000 RUB for two people - couple courses, soft drinks, water. Very nearly 5 stars.

“Excellent food and atmosphere”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

Great Azerbaijani restaurant near theaters and open late. Outstanding service, very large menu with lots of great choices and some reasonably priced wines (which one does not often see in Russia). It's adjacent to a club, but with the door closed the noise was not too intrusive on good dinner conversation.

“Very good Azerbaijani food.”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

I would like to give this place a 4.5 rating. Better than 4, not quite 5. It's not a fancy snooty restaurant, but it's definitely a nice restaurant with really nice decor. The food we had here was really delicious. I had a grilled lamb dish that was delicious. Most of the other food was also very good. The dishes were slightly on the small side, so this place is kind of expensive since the prices are if any thing slightly higher than average. But if you factor in the decor and high quality, I would recommend this place and would go back. The services was also great!

“Something different and well worth trying”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

Knowing nothing about the food of Azerbaijan, I was interested to try this beautifully decorated restaurant close to the Nevsky Prospect. I ordered a round of bread with two dairy-based, sour cream-like spreads, then borsch with tongue and quail eggs, then mutton with liver, potatoes and tomatoes. All dishes were nicely presented, very tasty and different from what I eat in Western Europe and the US. The service was friendly, polite and efficient and the whole experience very much worth repeating. My bill - drinking only water - came to $45.

“Unexpected delight”
Reviewed 4 May 2013

Went on recommendation of guide book and theinitalappearnce wasthatitwasa bit loud and glitzy BUT the staff were charming, English speaking with menu in four languages including English the food was freshly prepared and as a group of four our normal practice of sharing was put on hold as we jealously guarded our chosen meals. Never been to Azerbaijan so cannot rate authenticity. Good wine especially redand excellent deserts and all at a reasonable price 5800 roubles for 4 including 2 bottles of wine
