Description: Eating here is something akin to dining in a palace. The high ceilings and walls are covered with gorgeous, intricate patterns in bright colours, interspersed with mirrors. Food is classic Azerbaijani, meaning you may not know exactly what anything is on the menu without asking but it is bound to be satisfying. The pilaf dishes are a must, with lightly seasoned basmati rice, tender portions of meat, nuts, stewed fruits and vegetables. They also have baked vegetable stews, soups and tea served in tiny traditional glasses. Friday and Saturday nights feature music and dance acts and occasionally even fire-eating belly dancers.

The menu is the size of a novel and full of mouthwatering dishes from Azerbajan, all translated into English so you can read all the details and sit there salivating over what to try. The restaurant is ornately decorated and there is live music. Service was excellent and prices, while expensive, were well worth it for the quality of food. I tried an Azeri chicken dish with flour tortillas and spicy sauce and an Azeri pickled fruit platter (this maybe would have been better as a table centre piece for 6 people, but still, a fun experience). Courses start at 300 roubles and go up to about 1200 roubles each. Food is presented beautifully and makes great fun for people like me who love taking photos of food. Located in the city centre.

We went to Baku looking forward to trying some Azerbaijani food. Our party was two Russians and one American. After being seated in the beautifully decorated restaurant, two minutes later the waiter came for our order. Baku's menu is very long, so we didn't know what we wanted yet, and got a reprieve. We ordered fifteen minutes later or so, looking forward to our food--a starter and 2 entrees, including a chicken dish meant for two people. We then waited for 45 minutes without a waiter coming over to offer us anything. When I tried to wave over two waiters, they both just stared at me. Finally, I beckoned them over by drawing them in with my hand and we asked how much longer the food would be. Mind you, we were one of two tables in this restaurant that probably could seat 200 guests, and there were 8 waiters at least. After we asked a waiter this, they left, and walked through the dining room several times, eventually stopping to chat with the bartender. We waited ten minutes to see how much longer it would be for our food to arrive, and then I was fed up and decided to leave. As we were walking out of the door, they tried to block our way, alternating between threatening us, offering us a discount, accusing us of lying about the time we waited (we tracked everything on a phone), and claiming that if they brought the food any faster it would be just like mcdonalds. Their threatening and rude manner and uncaring service were absurd. They should have brought the starter before the mains. They should have warned us it would take an hour to prepare the food. I was very disappointed, especially since when i glanced at the food on the way out it looked delicious. But I was too furious from their treatment to be able to enjoy it.

Also, another reviewer mentioned this place was reasonable. It's perhaps $30USD per person if you try to be cheap.

Great cuisine of the Caucasus region in a nice (somewhat authentic looking) atmosphere. Reasonably priced, too. Mostly, though, I really appreciated the service. I noticed the next day that my credit card was missing, and I assumed I must have left it at the restaurant the night before. Now, the reputation of Russia and credit cards is not a good one, so I was quite concerned. When we did go back to the restaurant the next day we were fully expecting to hear, "Oh, what credit card?" That sort of thing. But, instead, the moment we walked in they recognized us and handed us the card. (With no extra charges, of course.) Friendly and trustworthy people!
