We had a lovely dinner there - Ukrainan borsch was good and rabbit pasta was simply wonderful. Also apple tart for dessert was nice. Slightly unimpressive and expensive wine list to compliment the food but nevertheless definitely worth a go. And the lovely young waitress didn't mind us practicing our non-existing Russian skills on her, although she would have definitely preferred us speaking English.

I stayed at the Helvetia and was recommended by the hotel to try this place. I was a little doubtful at first but then decided to try this restaurant for lunch. I had the Ukrainian borsch with meat for starters and the duck pasta for mains. Both were really good but what really took the cake was dessert which was recommended by the staff. I had the smetana cake with berries and it was absolutely brilliant. It was cake with layers of cream and honey in between - I'm not usually fond of cakes but this was a different league of its own. A place worth visiting - service staff was friendly and attentive and I also received a 25% discount for dining between 12-5pm on weekdays. Excellent!

Picked this cos it was close to our hotel and TA reviews were ok. The waitress spoke English and was lovely and helpful. The food was really good, with some wine the waitress recommended which was also good. Not expensive. Started to get busy about 8.30pm and was still going strong when we walked past at about 11pm. Would definitely recommend.

This cafe was across the road from our hotel and we tried it after a very long day walking around the city. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The waitress spoke excellent English and was very helpful. We also had our Russian phrasebook which also helped. The menu includes both Russian classics as well as European meals. We had a chicken ceasar salad to begin and it was lovely. The chicken was warm and obviously freshly cooked. I then ordered the lamb dumplings from the Russian classics. These took 25 minutes to cook and were well worth the wait as they were splendid. They have a good selection of wine which is reasonably priced for Russia.

We went quite early for eating in Russia about 7.30pm and could get in without a reservation however the restaurant became busier after about 8pm so you may need to make a booking

It was a lovely evening and meal.

We ate here the first night we arrived in St. Petersburg after a brief walk around near our hotel. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English as our Russian was non-existent! The food was ok but nothing special and the atmosphere was quiet which we didn't mind, especially as it was non-smoking too.

A reasonably good attempt at a French restaurant in the heart of a busy St. Petersburg.
