“Good location, cheap but with surprises”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights in December. We booked a junior suite for us three. the room was really really big, it had a dining room with a fridge, a living room with a couch, a desk, and a small tv, and the bedroom with two large beds, heaters in all three rooms that worked incredibly well. there was a bathroom in all three rooms, however two of them were locked up (no clue why) and only the one in the bedroom was open. it smelled really bad and was not very clean, the soap ran out and due to language barrier, we couldn't get more soap and had to buy our own. on the third night the bathroom roof started leaking and smelling really bad, they were very quick and polite to respond and changed us to a new room. this new room was very clean but substantially smaller with only one room. given the language barrier we decided to stay, but the heater in the room didn't work and it got very cold in the room as the temperature in the atrium was -9C, they gave us one of the portable heaters that were used out in the courtyard, which did the job but made our nights very uncomfortable. we got told that such room was in fact a Jr Suite so we didn't fight it. apart from that big inconvenience, the hotel is very well located, right by the river, within walking distance from Hermitage and St Isaac's, very convenient. The staff was very very polite, however spoke very little english. Breakfast was alright, nothing fancy, but not bad. the room was not easy to find however, it's at the very top floor. nightly rates were also very cheap which is why we went with that option. the overall experience was alright, however, we were glad our stay was over

So many bad things about this place.
1. Bathroom falling apart - tiles loose
2. floor boards comming up and come missing in room with nails exposed.
3. Our room faced the courtyard which was very loud and echoed when anyone was in there.
4. Reception would book taxis, tell us they would call us when it arrived, did not, and the taxis would leave. This happened 2 times.
5. We found a dead bird at our door step which I had to argue with them to clean up
6. room not cleaned until last day when I forced them to clean it
7. They refused to give me clean towels telling me I had to wait until 2pm for the cleaner to come.
8. Mosquitoes in the room bit us both up.

Pros:
Good location on the water.

Just dont do it. Choose another place.

Room Tip: dont stay here

We stayed for 5 nights. The bed was clean but only had single sized bedding on our double bed. The towels were shabby and not changed in the time we stayed. We had to buy our own toilet paper as after the first roll ran out it wasn't provided. Breakfast was ok at least , and the room was quiet and thankfully had air conditioning as window looked onto a covered courtyard interior . Lights not working in the stairwell - there are 4 flights of steps to the fourth floor to the rooms and breakfast room !!

This is a hotel with access to the Neva River near the bridge. Breakfast and high speed internet included in the price. Are young girls polite. The courtyard is glazed and made into a hotel and overlooks the neighboring yards is a mansion of the 19th century and is probably here a little romantic, it certainly creates a favorable climate for the hotel. Finishing apparently nineties - simple but tasteful everything is clean and serviceable, but to wash with warm water - it is necessary to lower the water for a long time. Electric heating, the room is small, my sleep was calm and without extraneous noises bed soundly. Also there was a chest of drawers, wardrobe, TV with 20 channels and a bathroom. This price is surprisingly small, if booked in advance. Value for money - very apt.
Breakfast is not particularly diverse, but modestly, may get bored if you long to live, but I have lived one day, but there are all the legacy of the table in this case. The hotel is somewhat removed from the subway, walk 1 mile from the Metro subway Admiralty and go west. However, this deficiency is a plus: you can take a walk through St. Isaac's Cathedral and along the waterfront, and to become better acquainted with St. Petersburg. This is a promising and romantic hotel!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel which had been booked by my eldest daughter and as it was the first hotel that we had stayed at in Russia the way it was run may be the norm. I believe that the appartments were once used by foreign doctors engaged by the czars;as such they lack some of the amenities found in a purpose built hotel.
The Reception was manned by a succession of young students some of whom appeared to be on duty for a full twenty four hours. They were both welcoming and pleasant and all spoke some English.
We were allotted a double room at the top of the building,- no lift and on the fourth floor. The room was small but with a modern shower and bathroom which was excellent and quiet until the adjoining room was occupied and one realised how thin the partitions were; one could hear both ends of a telephone conversation. On checking our booking we realised that our daughter had in fact paid for a room with two double beds and we were promoted to a much bigger room on a second floor but with a smaller and rather dingy bathroom attached. The mistake was probably a misunderstanding but we never identified who among the staff was the permanent hotel manager.
Finding breakfast was intially a challenge as it was also on the fourth floor but the only way of reaching it was via the second floor. There was little signage in the building ( even outside the hotel name is in small lettering). This was a large room but at this season there were few guests; it was very much a help yourself exercise and those on duty were inclined to chat together than go out of their way to be helpful.
Rooms were apparently cleaned every other day which came as a surprise.
The convenient location of the hotel more than makes up for these drawbacks being within twenty minutes walking of the historical centre, or five minutes from bus and trolleybus routes.
The temperature was low at this time of year but there was sunshine in plenty and with little wind
it was pleasanter than much of Great Britain in the last few months. St Petersburg in the snow must be the most beautiful city in the world.

Room Tip: Being an old building I would suspect that rooms vary a great deal.

Realy beautiful. Quiet, large rooms with nice bathrooms. Has a beautiful ebtrance with views to the old stables. There is also a large ballroom and dining room. Downside- pretty far from things (near the marinsky theater though). Also a but rough around the edges and the breakfast wasnt great. But quirky... Id stay here again.

I really enjoyed my recent 2 days stay in this hotel. It’s located in the historic center of St. Petersburg, in the very riverside of Neva river, not so far (15 minutes walking) from the main commercial avenue (Nevsky Prospekt) and the famous Hermitage palace. Surroundings are beautiful in the night!

The overall atmosphere is very nice, stylish and comfortable. It’s a remodeled historic building with an impressive glassed-roof atrium (ideal to enjoy a coffee) and astonishing main stairs. My room was clean and well decorated, and I really enjoyed a high quality sleep as well as a great heating service. The front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful, assisting me in all my needs during my stay. The breakfast was good, served in a nicely decorated room (but the only weak aspect, not thinking on myself but in obese or older people) is that this room is located in the fourth floor only accessible by stairs; since no lift is available).

Considering all the aforementioned aspects, fares are really convenient, determining an excellent price-value relation. Therefore, I strongly recommended this nice hotel to tourists who are planning to visit St. Petersburg.

Room Tip: Preferably choose rooms located far from the front street (to avoid traffic noise
