“Budget hotel in the city centre”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

This mini-hotel has a perfect location - neer the Moscow Railway Station, the biggest shopping mall and all main tourist attractions. the rooms are nice, with new furniture, most of the bathrooms have a shower cabin instead of the bathtube. The breakfast is really poor : the variety of meat and cheese plates, yogurts, tea, coffee. Very bacis accomodation, nothing special. I would not recommend this hotel to the travelers with huge suitecases, as it has the only one tiny elevator, that the most of the time doesn't work.

The good thing about this hotel is that the location is quite good close to Nevsky and Moskovsky Voegzal. The bad thing is that the elevator is very small and slow and the reception is only on the 3rd floor and the staff speak only Russian. The bed was comfortable but not amazing. There were stains on the floor of my room and I was thinking generally you can get better value for money in St Pete for 120 euros per night at a hotel on Marata Street or Vladimirsky. This is a good but not great hotel. Also, if you have a room facing the Ligovsky prospekt expect lots of noise from the street down below ... Some may like this but others might wish for a bit more peace and quiet!!

Room Tip: If you want a view choose Ligovsky Prospekt side room. If you want quiet, then choose a room on the...

We stayed in July, staff were nice but spoke very little English. Location was good and close to the major attractions but no lift in the hotel with a room on 6th floor was not ideal. Rooms clean and overall was good value for money.

Location of the hotel was very good. 5 minute walk to ploshchad' vosstaniya metro station. Infront of it there is a huge mall, called galleria. Next of the hotel there is a market which is open 24 hour. It is located on one of the main streets of the city. The room was big enough and newly decorated. The beds were not so comfortable and pillows were very bad. It was very hot in the room and when you open the window it becomes very noisy becouse of the main street infront of it. The room and bathroom were clean. Wifi coverage was good. There was free drinking water on the corridor. The breakfast was very good. The elevator was very small. There were other apartments in the building beside the hotel but entry and inside of the building was safe.

Dear Guest!

Thank your very much for you review in Tripadvisor! We appreciate it!

We are sorry to hear that you holidays were not that perfect as you expected!

It is true that Ligovsky prospect is a bit noisy as it is one of the main streets in St. Petersburg. We are sorry to hear that the noise has disturbed your rest. We will try our best to find the appropriate room for your tranquility the next time you will stay with us.

Regarding beds and pillows, we are working on changing it on better quality.

We are glad to welcome you again at Allegro hotels when you come to St. Petersburg next time.

Thank you and best regards,

I spent a week at the hotel and found it to be OK for the price. The room was big and had a good size bathroom too. I did not found the bed too comfortable but it was ok. It was not a double bed but two separate ones that were put next to eachother. In the middle of the "double bed" it was hard because of the wooden frames of the beds.

The room had a good closet space with mirrordoors. The room was very roomy and high. Only minus of the room was that it was at times too warm (there was a ac machine you could adjust) and that the carpets were spotty and a bit dirty..

Breakfast was good, not great though. But they had a selection of teas, Coffee, juices, ham, cheese, fruits, toast, pastries, jogurt etc. Though I spent there a week I did not get tired of the breakfast :)

Location of the hotel is great, just 5 min walk from the main street. Next to the hotel there is for example a Café, 24h shop and some fast food places. On the other side of the street there is a big shopping mall with many international brand shops and restaurants.

I'd go there again - because of the location and the price.

Dear Juha,
Thank you very much for your review.

We appreciate your opinion. Thank you for noticing the space of our rooms. We are please also that you liked our breakfast. Recently we improved the assortment of food and we are glad to hear good comments from our guests.

We are glad that you find our location great. The Ligovsky prospect is a very busy street. There are a lot of shops and sights nearby.

Sorry for the situation with two beds except 1 double. We have a lot of rooms with 1 double bed. You stayed at the dates when we were fully booked and we had no rooms with 1 double bed. If you asked a room with 1 double bed on reception or leave the comments in your reservation in advance, it is more guaranteed that you will have a room with 1 double bed.

Dear Juha, thank you very much for your kind review!
We will be glad to welcome you and hope you will be our loyalty guest.

Kind regards,
Olga Siruk

Plus points:
Good location
Reasonable price for St Petersburg
Generally OK but not great
Close to Nevsky Prospekt and metro

The hotel had a buzzer to gain entry, and seemed to be in a residential block. We had to lug our bags up 2 flights of stairs to reception, and then another to our room. Technically there was a lift, but the door was like one on a prison cell and we couldn't get it to work anyway. Later we saw someone who had managed to get in it and couldn't get out!

The room itself was absolutely fine, as was the self-service breakfast.

The staff on reception were OK but didn't exactly fall over themselves to be helpful.

Dear Mike,
Thank you for your time and your review about our hotel.

We are sorry for the inconvenience with the elevator. In a few months we will be glad to offer to our guest new elevator. It is just a matter of time. But anyway we use the elevator every day and usually there is no problem to get out from it.

We are pleased that you enjoyed our rooms and breakfast. We always try to do all our best for our guest. But anyway we will take into consideration your comments about our staff and will keep to work for the best service.

We really appreciate your opinion about the hotel, and we hope to see you next time in our hotel.

Kind regards,

Hotel Allegro Ligovsky prospect is in the perfect location for exploring St. Petersburg.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights before river cruise. This hotel is located across a four stories modern shopping mall which next to Moskovsky train station, there are many local and international fast food in the fourth floor food court and they are open till late evening. Step outside of hotel door, turn left (to north) and walk about five minutes will reach a monuments. Turn left along Nevskiy Prospect (the main street in St. Petersburg) will lead you to many major attractions (end at the Nevada river shore, Winter Palace is on the right). Hotel will provide a tourist map. Across the street at the monument is metro station Ploshad Vosstania(red line )/Mayakovskaya(green line).

The hotel front door is not easy to identify, you have to look for the hotel name plate on the building wall, the door is beside it. Press the intercom keypad to enter the code and the receptionist will open the door. Hotel reception is in third floor. The old style one man elevator is with a steel door on the side of the hallway. It will be faster to use the stairs than the elevator if do not have heavy luggage. Most of staffs in reception can speak simple English and they will try to help as much as they can. They helped us arranging transportation and luggage storage. We email the hotel in advance to arrange airport pickup(at very reasonable rate).

The hotel rooms are quite large (compare to similar class hotels in Europe) and newly renovated with modern deco. There is a hot/cool drinking water station in each floor. Buffet breakfast has all the basic items as expected.

We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the nice and comfortable room of our hotel and find our location to be close to main attractions of St.Petersburg. Thank you for your kind comments about our staff. We very appreciate it.

Our elevator is really rather small and old, but now we are waiting for renewal of the elevator. We hope that in 5-6 months the new elevator will be installed.

We thank you again for your good review. It will be a great pleasure for us to welcome you back at Allegro hotel!
