Yes its a mediocre newish hotel striving to be 5 star but not quite reaching it.
A wierd, strange but certainly luxurious hotel it is.What its not is friendly to disabled folk and should certainly be a no-go hotel for such. But providing you can stomach the colour clashes all over the hotel and in the rooms and the strange architecture,it is attempted luxury, no question. The beds are super comfortable as are the pillows and the rooms are a great size with huge wall mounted flat screen TVs. One comfortable arm chair and desk with adequate power points and internet connection. And a very strange metal desk chair...Ours had one small window facing the inner courtyard so was quite dark but it was one of the cheaper rooms. This was a room fitted out for mobility impaired persons but located at the far end of the hotel through very long corridors instead of being near the lift, no grips in the shower and the towel racks located much too high with a lack of anywhere to put ones toiletries. We had to ask for something to pur stuff on! the room was obviously poorly designed and located

The very long ramp from the street to the hotel reception is an unpleasant surprise on arrival as are the dark suited mafia style security men outside which don't lift a finger to even open the hotel front door even to someone arriving with a walker and bags.

Location is good not great and overall this hotel merits a try if you are colour blind, in perfect health with no disabilities, impervious to politeness but want a good nights rest in total silence in a pseudo luxury hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room near lift or you have a very long walk.

Very stylish, very clean, kind and friendly staff- especially for Russia. Overall I was impressed by the seamless service and the well appointed rooms. The place is perfectly located and in a beautiful setting just over one of the canals, right in the centre of town. Restaurant was good, just a little expensive. All in all- recommendable. Oh- the fitness centre and spa was super stylish- no one there as well, so definitely give it a look in!

So happy with Domina! Prior to our stay, the staffs were very fast in replying our questions and favors. Upon check in, what a surprise to be upgraded 2 levels higher! So we had duplex river view room! Staffs very friendly, spoke english very well, bfast food has wide variety but doesnt changed during our 5 nights stay. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable. Room service was good and didnt have to wait long. All of our needs were met so i highly recommend this hotel even if you have small kids. Strategic location walking distance to st Isaac, yusupov, nevsky prospect, hermitage etc. one thing that i dont recommend is to take their tour program. The guide was awful, not too friendly and unablevto answer our question, we felt she was bored with us, didnt speak much, i had many guides prior to domina's so she was by far the worst. So dont make the same mistake. Other than that, Domina is a sure place to stay in st P!!!!

Room Tip: Choose river view. We had room 404 and 406, perfect!!!

I haven't commented on the spa and pool as I didn't use them, not value for money as it was part of a package.
The hotel is close to St Isaac's Cathedral and other tourist attractions, and around a 10 minute walk from Nevrsky Prospekt, the main eating and shopping area.
The hotel itself is quite modern in its design; a bit different to what I'm used to, but it worked. The breakfast was very good and plentiful , everything from bacon and eggs to bread and cheese. We had dinner in the hotel one night - I would recommend the marble steak! I can't remember the prices of the food, but drinks were expensive - around £40 for five drinks (a single brandy, single malt whiskey, two pints and a Malibu and coke).
The staff were lovely and really helpful, and the rooms cleaned to a good standard. Reception, door and restaurant staff spoke English well; language wasn't really a barrier.
There is free wifi and a computer available for guests - I didn't see a printer, however another guest advised the reception staff were happy to print documents if necessary.
I would recommend this hotel as a place to stay and eat.

We stayed here in June, 2013. This hotel had everything that we wanted and expected. No surprises-what you see and read on TA is what you will get-which is great! Excellent location...large clean modern room, and, bed, large bathroom-separate bath and shower. Very quiet.
This hotel is a 'no brainer'-book it and don't worry.

Room Tip: Our very quiet room faced the courtyard, 4th floor (412?).
