“central location/service with a smile”

We booked this hotel on expedia and got a great deal by booking early. Our room was on the sixth floor facing the Moika canal. It was a great view that we enjoyed both day and night.
We had the superior twin which was large, bright and airy. The colors were fun and make you smile. Bathrooms are large, well stocked and very clean. Lovely rainshower and large tub.
The staff, from the front doorman, to the reservation desk staff, to the concierge to housekeeping are polite, always sming and always helpful.
You are near many excellant retaurants, e.g. The Idiot, Teplo, and Levin (all typically Russian and excellent).

I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay.

Room Tip: choose one with river view on high floor

We arrived by train from Helsinki and walked from the metro station (Amiraltyskaya, I think) to the hotel. It was close, only about 1/2 mile. The first thing you notice about the hotel is the crazy colored lobby with way over the top "design elements." It was typically Russian...somebody's idea of "modern" but in a playful way. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were on the small side, but they were clean and comfortable. Everything worked properly and the bathrooms are nice.

The hotel is well situated for sightseeing around the city. We walked from the hotel to most of the main sights and museums. For others we took the metro, which is very convenient and easy to figure out.

We decided against breakfast at the hotel, which would have been around $30 per person and glad we did. Instead, head to one of the nearby coffee places. We went mostly to Siccaffe nearby which was reasonable and good.

This hotel is perfectly situated for a city break in St Petersburg. It is scrupulously clean, the staff are wonderfully competent and polite and the facilities very good. The attention to detail is impressive. The colour scheme is very quirky but the rainbow colours work wondrously. Our twin room was a little small and the temperature difficult to control. The foyer is something to behold. My only gripe is the eggs. The breakfast is really very good but who wants to eat cold scrambled/fried eggs? Decaf coffee would have been welcome instead of having to request it. A great place to stay.

Nice Hotel to stay in. Staff were very nice. Meal in the hotel (Fusion) was good I had duck. my wife had sea bass both lovely. corridor to rooms quite dark maybe starting to need a little spuce up. Room was the same but had all amenities. Shortage of tv stations (english speaking) mainly CNN or BBCWorld news. Euro sport. Close to St Isaacs. witha few restaurants nearby. Fully recommend Teplo wonderful food just round the corner, but book a table its busy. Idiot restaurant was disappointing setting is nice but food was poor. ( Go to Teplo ). I would recommend this hotel.

The Domina Prestige filled our needs perfectly. For value for money we felt it could not be beaten.
The attention to detail in our well appointed room was excellent. Free Wi-Fi is a bonus. The modern interior is a pleasant surprise and tasteful. The location is really handy for some great eating venues and St Petersburg attractions. The staff were always attentive and genuinely interested in our welfare and happy to give useful advice for the days sightseeing. The doorman was the most friendly and courteous chap we have ever encountered in that role.

This beautiful Hotel is perfectly situated nearby the Isaac Cathedral. All the major highlights are accessible within walking distance.
The English-speaking staff is very friendly and forthcoming.
Built into an old classicistic mansion the Hotel has some architectural highlights. The former courtyard got a stylish pyramidal glass roof and functions as lobby now.
The modern interior is a mixture of kitsch and posh with every floor differently designed. Not everybody will fancy that, but at least it has a style to remember.
Our deluxe room was immaculate and very spacious with a perfect bathroom.
The breakfast buffet is actually quite good by Russian standards but it doesn’t come cheap. To take that of your mind just make sure breakfast is included in your room rate.
To sum it up: We would definitely choose Domina Prestige again.

Room Tip: Go for a room that is not facing the courtyard

Admittedly, I am a lover of both Classical & Baroque art, so would normally not go for a modern hotel like the Domina Prestige. However, the Tripadvisor reviews and the rates for this almost brand new hotel was too good to resist, and so I booked 4 nights here initially. But due some great weekend offers at the nearby Hotel Taleon Imperial, I had cut short my stay here to only 3 nights and the Hotel Domina was alright with my requests, very professional of them!

The Hotel Domina Prestige had also made our application for a Russian visa a breeze ... many thanks to them, too. After a short transit in Zurich, we arrived about 18 hours later in St Petersburg's small airport. Our pre-booked taxi from WelcomeTaxi, a lady, was already waiting for us. We then changed some US$ into Russian roubles at the airport's exchange office before boarding the car (reasonable rates at the airport, so no worries).

After merely 30 minutes, we arrived at the Hotel Domina Prestige. Our pre-selected room 403, was really more spacious than the pictures on the Hotel's website, a nice surprise indeed - a double floored river facing room that comes with exercise equipment and a sauna room on the second floor. There are even two toilets in the room, one on each floor, really nice!

The King sized bed was really huge (very comfy!), thick curtains were controlled by a touch of a button, double glazed windows (so quiet), TV with at least 2 English channels (BBC & CNN), Nespresso coffee maker, kettle with coffee and tea bags, 4 bottles of mineral water daily (how generous of them when most hotels would only give you two bottles daily), free & fast Wifi, great breakfasts with yummy Italian imported, mozzarella di buffala, yum yum!

Staff at the front desks all speak English, and were all helpful and friendly. The included breakfasts here were simply the best, even outshining the Hotel Taleon Imperial's breakfast and were only losing out slightly to the Grand Hotel Europe's in terms of caviar ... we were so contended with our choice of Hotel initially but as with most hotels, there are certain things that requires attention.

Some how or rather, our room air-condition starts and stops by itself in the middle of the night! We had found this rather disturbing to our seriously jet lagged bodies but soon got used to it. The so-called sauna (no adding of water, thus non-Finnish) takes 15 minutes to heat up from 22 to 30 degrees and it would take another further 20 minutes before reaching 38-40 degrees. So, we never used the sauna as first time visitors to St Petersburg, we had too much to see and to do, what a waste!

The whole room, due in part to its second floor, is also deemed too dark, with insufficient lighting especially near the entrance area. The huge TV, placed upstairs in front of the exercise machines should be placed downstairs instead where most guests would tend to most of their time in (much smaller TV downstairs - what a waste, again!).

And the worst complaint that we had about the Hotel was it's location ... Based on the iPhone that we had, the exact distance from the Hotel Domina to the number One attraction in St Petersburg, The Hermitage, is a good 1.6km (measured this 3 times), which means walking a good 25 minutes each way, to and fro, almost daily, to The Hermitage (bought 2 day pass online) as well as the ferry stop at The Hermitage to visit Peterhof Palace.

In retrospect, I only had myself to blame as my husband had later pointed out that I should have reserved the visiting of The Hermitage and Peterhof Palace till we stay at the Hotel Taleon Imperial, which is only about 5-7 minutes to The Hermitage! True indeed, it was my fault as I was just too anxious to visit the number one attraction once I had arrived ... not the Hotel's fault actually.

But in all fairness, try to include these sights if you are staying at this wonderful Hotel Domina as these places of interest are really quite close to the Domina Prestige -

1. St Isaac's Cathedral (3-5 minutes)
2. Yusupov Palace (where Rusputin was killed, 5-7 minutes)
3. Feel Yourself Russian Folk Show at Nikolaevsky Palace (8-10 minutes)
4. St Nicholas Cathedral & Masriinsky Theatre (8-10 minutes).

Overall, we were very happy that this Hotel has indeed offered us real good value for our money in expensive Russia. You would get what you pay here, perhaps even more so, if you stay here. Plan your itinerary properly and you would be so glad that you have chosen this Hotel for your stay in beautiful St Petersburg.

After a 3 nights stay here, we spent another 2 more nights at the Taleon Imperial and one last night at the Grand Hotel Europe (do read my other reviews). Enjoy the city, its way under-rated!

Room Tip: Lifestyle rooms are great indeed, go for it.
