“A Disaster”

I didn't expect much about this theatre to compare with Mariinsky or Bolshoi. but before the show, I expected it would be at least a professional and great performance.
However, it was a truly disaster for me. Both the ballet dancers and orchestra seems sooo amateur that I really couldn' bear it.
By the way, the acoustic of the theatre sucks too.

“west europe shows provide a richer experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

we watched the ballet - Romeo & Juliet. went with high expectations. but was disappointed.

having been for show/ operas and broadways etc in western europe, the production quality here seemed poor. the light / sound ... the sets .. seemed sub standard.

the seats were so uncomfortable that its impossible to enjoy the show. there is no airconditioning and it got uncomfortably warm after an hour or so.

they had crammed the place with chairs and it was almost clautrophobic...

i would recommend one to watch at bolshoi in moscow if your itinerary permits.

I had the great luck of seing "Swan Lake" in Mikhailovsky Theater. It was amazing in so many ways! Enjoy the interior of the theater, enjoy watching the dressed-up theater guests and do enjoy the talented dancers!

“It's not the Bolshoi”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

Expected more from going to a Russian ballet. the theatre is fairly pain, and in need of some repair. The performance itself seemed like amateur hour. Really surprised. Though not a connoisseur of Ballet, I expected the performers to keep in step with each other, and to do that with the music...
