It is a massive palace and museum which is well worth a visit despite the somewhat high price. It should take you hours to get through it with a wide variety of art genres and decoration.

Really worth the visit.

General tips:
-Would recommend buying tickets online before you go. They are a bit more expensive (around $17 USD to 1 day and $23 for two). There is one line for ticket purchase and another for entry so this allows you to skip the first and go straight to entry.
-Would also recommend getting there early. I started lining up at 10am and was in by approximately 10.45 (the museum opens at 10.30). The line got longer as the day went on.

The Museum:
Absolutely amazing. You could comfortably spend a day walking through. So much to see and such a beautiful building. There is a cloak room, toilets, gift shops and cafe available. As a general note, the museum doesn't have an "obvious" layout (as it wasn't really designed as a museum to be fair!), so it was a bit confusing where to go at first. Just wander through, the possibilities are endless!

A worth of its own. Just a piece of beauty. To be buddies must in life time. But to see its beauty and contents even1 week is not sufficient. Marvelous restorations from ashes after World War and perestroika St. Petersburg at its best

Its a huge museum and there is lots of russians art and prehistoric artifacts. The winter palace display the rooms and furniture of the days of the 1800-1900s.
