“Splendid grandeur”
Reviewed 18 March 2013

It was so mind blowing, gorgeous and breath taking, that you can't say you've been to SPb unless you saw this place.

The outside of this cathedral is amazing and the inside is beyond description. It is allowed to take pictures inside but the pictures really don't capture to beauty,

“Make Sure You Visit The Collonade”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

The interior of the cathedral is very certainly impressive and worth the time taken to visit, but for us the most memorable part was the view that you get when you climb the 274 steps up to the collonade.

Here you can walk all round the outside of the base of the cathedral dome and enjoy magnificent views across the city, before descending another 274 steps back to terra firma.

Tickets for the interior and the collonade are purchased seperately, so make sure you are clear which one you want if you only wish to visit one area.

“Very Ornate”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

This cathedral did not have 1 inch of space that wasn't painted or covered in gilding or semiprecious stone. The wealth of the Russian Orthodox church is displayed here in a glorious way.
It is said Russian Tsar's sold Alaska to pay for the gold dome on top of this cathedral.
The top of the cathedral's architectural plans were purchased by America to build as the top of our Congressional building in Washington, DC. It is identical.
