Under the very professional management of Leon Larkin many things have changed for the better in GHE. The warm welcome, beautifully refurbished rooms and high quality restaurants and service allow one to 100% enjoy your stay at this top hotel to the full. The well-trained staff are efficient, always present and willing to fulfill your demands - including airport check-ins. As organizer of a demanding Swiss Group, I was in close contact with their excellent Sales Manager, Maria Dorofeeva, who prior to arrival had made perfect arrangements and proved a perfect partner. It is always a pleasure to return to this historical hotel, ideally situated in the city center on Newski Prospect and to be greeted by many familiar faces of their staff. My warmest recommendations to anyone looking for perfection, culture and the possibility to experience perfect service.

We were here for 5 nights and loved it. The location is perfect for exploring the city on foot. The restaurants were great - the Chinese one was our least favourite - and the cocktail bar was always friendly and lively.

This a beautiful historic hotel in a great location for exploring the main sites in St. Petersburg. Just off the main street of Nevsky Prospekt , the Grand Hotel Europe is within easy walking distance of the Mikhailovskiy Theater, Russian Museum, Church on Spilled Blood, and even the Hermitage Museum. The buffet breakfast in the L'Europe Restuarant is first class and the setting is excellent. The service in the restaurants is very good.

My only complaint about the hotel during my four night stay was the lack of air conditioning and the response by the staff to the problem. My room was very stuffy and warm from the start. The air conditioning is basically a three setting fan and would simply blow warm air. I complained to the front desk the first night, and then again the next morning, but they were non responsive. When I checked out, I made another complaint, and was told that another guest had complained and they had called an engineer. This was four days later, and apparently this other guest's complaints were rated higher than mine.

I appreciate how beautiful the hotel is, but honestly I'd rather visit the hotel restaurants and stay at a 3 or 4 star hotel with a working air conditioner and staff that treats guest complaints with equal consideration.

the rooms were large and nice for russia--but by standards compared to London, just sort of ok.
Food was excellent sometimes and other times ok.
Somehow 2 other bills in restaurant for Beluga Caviar and champagne got put on our bill. After bringing it to their attention it was corrected.
The best thing were the concierges. Truly helped to make our trip good.
Restaurant on mezzanine had terrible food and service.

This hotel has a wonderful "feel" when you walk into the imposing lobby area. Staff is friendly and most speak English well. A stately, large pedestal table adorned with a grand arrangement of absolutely gorgeous roses and lillies (this was kept refreshed everyday of our 7 night stay), sits squarely in the middle of your path from the entry to the check-in desk where we were greeted warmly and shown to our room. We were very pleased with what we found there! In our experience, some hotels spend their money on the furnishings and "trimmings" in the public areas and then the rooms are pretty "vanilla". That was NOT the case here. Our room was spacious, clean as a whistle with furniture that fit its classic setting. Beds were wonderful! Their buffet breakfasts were without a doubt the BEST we have ever encountered in our travels. Every breakfast choice you can imagine was beautifully displayed, delicious to our taste-buds and the buffet tables were kept refilled promptly as needed. The location of the hotel allowed us to walk to the Church of the Spilled Blood, the canal where we took a cruise to watch the drawbridges go up at midnight during the Summer Nights season, etc. The cruise was gorgeous...worth losing some sleep! All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Europe greatly.
