You know its bad when it doesn't even meet your low expectations!

The beds were horrible- the mattress was almost non existent, pillow was flat and blankets smelt musky. No ventilation in the room, and no screens on the window so couldn't leave it open at night without getting eaten alive by mossies (tip for Aussies- Aeroguard doesn't stop them!). Carpet would come up off the floor and it took us 10 minutes just to get the door open! Not to mention trying to lock it when going out. They also only have 1 key per room, so you'll need to leave it at reception and be prepared to let friends back in if you do things on your own.

Bathroom needs renovations badly. The water is brown, but its ok to shower in. Don't expect a life changing shower though. Its bearable.

Comedy of errors when trying to leave- despite the size of the hotel, only 1 of the 7 lifts was working. Took 25 minutes to get in it- I advise keeping your bags light so you can take the stairs! Popular with groups, expect a lot of unattended children. And prostitutes in the lobby trying to get onto the floors.

Location is good- theres restaurants and a supermarket around the corner. A lot of construction going on, and it does mean a lot of detours to get in and out.

Restaurant on 2nd floor is ok. Don't expect much in service, food is ok.

This hotel is set in a great location but needs desperate make over. The rooms have not been maintained at all. Paints are off. The beds are old and bedding fabric old. Toilets are old and ready to collapse. Best to avoid this hotel. The reception has a few rude attenendents

Room Tip: avoid the standard rooms at all cost. The Neva facing Deluxe rooms are better

Recently we stayed in hotel Sankt-peterburg. This hotel is rather big: huge halls, restorant for many guests and bar. What is more there is its own concert hall. It is situated in the centre of the city not far from metro station Lenin Square. If you are given a room with a view to Neva river you will be able to entartain yourself with a wonderful screen of the city: Neva river, sheep Avrora, Peter and Paul fortress and so on.
Rooms are rather comfortable unless they are very small. The design is very simple but everything loooks clean anf repared.
There is a veru clean and nice bathroom. On every floor you can find a device for water and ice. Fron 7 till 1030 there is dreacfast . you can find well prepared olivie salat, omlets, coffee, tosts, harm . On the first floor the is free wifi in the bar. In the concert hall often there are perfect ballets

Room Tip: Room with a view to Neva river

The hotel is near a subway station, has a few restaurants nearby, and grocery store. Decent breakfast. The reception foyer is misleading, and makes you think you are staying at a classy hotel, but then you get to your rooms, and it's pretty budget, but clean. no air conditioning, so you have the choice of sleeping in hot temperatures, or opening the windows and being bitten by mosquitos. If you cannot sleep without air conditioning, do not stay here as you will not get a wink of sleep. The rooms, and hallways look like they have not been renovated since the 1980s, but it's clean. They have water coolers on each floor, so that was a nice perk.

Good location,
good breakfasts,
awful rooms - we got such an old one, it was not renovated since forever! & we were expecting one from the pictures :(
The pictures in the Internet were so nice - I guess there are some rooms like that, but nobody in our group got one.

I don't think I will ever stay there again

Very lovely location near Neva river and Finland station, but many rooms are still in Soviet era condition. Street construction work continue and continue in front of hotel. Room rate 106 euros is too much for so simple, but breakfast is great. Good services like post office and shops.

Room Tip: Ask room with Neva river view.

Location is great. Breakfasts - more then great… But this hotel definitely needs renovation! While our stay - construction was ongoing straight under our window! To noisy! All furniture is really old. I heard from taxi driver there is a plan to destroy this hotel.
