“Good location”
Reviewed 22 June 2011

We recently stayed at this hotel during the Economic Forum and the price was jacked sky high, so I cannot comment on value. This is a very good hotel, nothing grand or luxurious. The bar on the 6th floor provided a view of the top of St. Isaac's Church from the out door terrace-very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was very good, walking distance to Hermitage and water ferries.

My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay here. The hotel is very centrally located for sightseeing, shopping, dining, etc. I can't really compare the facilities / furnishings with other hotels in Saint Petersburg, but everything was certainly in-line with what I would expect from a Renaissance. Our room was well-maintained & nice - with plenty of space. The hotel's fitness center was better-equipped than most. I have to say though that without exception the Staff were fantastic! I called ahead and they made arrangements for a 'city cab' to pick us up from the airport, and at a reasonable price I might add. Front desk personnel were welcoming & helpful. Concierge staff provided great advice on local restaurants, sights, events, etc. Most of all, everyone we met at this hotel seemed genuinely happy to have us there as guests! I wish I could find this kind of service @ Renaissance hotels in the US!

Extremely accommodating and helpful staff. Rooms are quiet and elegant. Bed and linens top rate. I ate lunch there; it was OK. It was a fixed 'business lunch' menu with a nice dessert buffet. My rate included breakfast, but because of an early morning departure, I couldn't eat breakfast there. Because of that, the staff prepared a box breakfast/lunch for me with juice, water, a delicious sandwich, and a chocolate croissant. They were also excellent at arranging transportation for me.

I have booked Renaissance St. Petersburg Baltic Hotel because of the location, good review score here and brand good name. I was not dissapointed at all. I could easily say that it was almost perfect. Of course, there were few comments abouts things I didn't like, but overall it was really pleasant experience.

LOCATION
Renaissance is conveniently located in the absolutely best area. It's just steps away from St. Isaac's Cathedral, St. Issaac's Square and few minutes walking distance from famous Hermitage and Winter Palace. It is one of the most central hotels in St. Petersburg!

CHECK-IN
We arrived quite early, but professional and efficient reception staff could help us and allocated room much earlier. Big "thank you" for that as we had overnight flight from Dublin. All checking-in process was quick and hassle-free. Unfortunately (because I was booked on special rate) I couldn't use my Marriott Rewards vouchers. But staff offered to check that with supervisor. Thanks for trying.
Because hotel is partner with the Hermitage Museum guests receive priority entry to Museum. You have to have your tickets paid (pre-booked or arranged by concierge), but you can skip the lines to enter Hermitage. That's very usefull.
LOBBY
I really liked reception and lobby area. Elegant design with comfortable and good quality furniture. In the middle there was staircase for upper floor with balroom. One of the bars just behind and business centre (24h open) just nearby. Quite a lot of fresh flower compositions made it even nicer.
There is souvenir shop and concierge desk ready to help you.
Hotel entry is always secured by the guard.
Unfortunately free wi-fi (which suppose to be there) didn't work.

ROOM
Our King-sized-bed room was located on the 3rd floor with an internal courtyard view. That was nice, but there was not enough daylight. Be sure that you'll setup your alarm clock in the morning.
Room was spacious, fresh, clean and well-equipped. King size bed was spacious and really comfortable. You have a choice of eight (!!!) pillows. I was impressed.
Of course, there was air-condition, flat screen TV, safety deposit box, iron & iron board. Mini fridge (or mini-bar) was there, but was locked. There was no coffee/tea maker like in most of the Renaissance/Marriott hotels, but you could order room service... If you can afford that. Even if you have found bargain price for the hotel, don't expect that while there - prices for meals / room service are really high.
Bathroom was bright, fresh & comfortable. Hair dryer and two mirrors. Bathtub & shower. There was quite difficult to have the same water temperature (or too cold or too hot) and water pressure was really low - shouldn't happen. Selection of good quality toiletries provided. I really like fluffy towels and dressing-gowns.
There is an Internet access (wired, cable provided), but price is extremely high.

EXTRA SERVICES
Business centre in the lobby is open 24h/day. It is well equipped with all necessary devices and staff is really helpful.
Concierge desk is ready to assist you with arranging transfers / tours / entry tickets etc.
On the top floor there is a bar and everywhere-advertised room terrace. But... It was closed all 3 days we've been there.
CHECK-OUT
I was really glad when reception clerk allowed me to check-out few hours later. Much appreciated and that was huge help. We've been allowed as well to leave our luggege in secured space until evening. Again, very professional and efficient.

I have to say that I really enjoyed staying in Renaissance Baltic Hotel and I would definitely recommend it to my friends and clients. It is really good hotel with comfortable rooms and professional (and discreet) staff.

Just stayed here for a long weekend. The hotel was great, way better than anything I've experienced in Russia previously. Two things stood out: the quality of the bed (one of the best I've slept on) and the service. Fantastic welcome, but the weekend concierge is the real deal - great recommendations and very efficient. Well worth a stay for the price.

Beautiful view on the city from the terrace upstairs (however the bar located there was always closed whenever I went - several stays for the last years). The rooms are old fashioned and the lobby area and the restaurant at the ground floor do not look attractive at all even tough the food served there is not the worst in St Petersburg. The staff is friendly but not used to deal with non russian speakers so you can expect some misunderstanding. The hotel has no spa centre, no pool or anything for relaxing after a busy working day.

Room Tip: Ask for a high rise room with a view

Average Renaissance hotel conveniently located in the city center. Booking with the Advance Purchase Rate (requiring full prepayment) would normally give you a free room upgrade. Breakfast is not worth the money.
