“Beautiful Old Streeet”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

We really enjoyed our time strolling Nevsky Prospect and looking at the impressive buildings that line the street. The Kazan Cathedral, modeled after St. Peter's in Rome, the famous Dom Knigi book store, Elissev Delicatessen, the Russian State Museum, and the picturesque, not to be missed, Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood are some of the sites either on the street or a short stroll away. Hotels, shops and restaurants line the avenue and there is a vibrant, busy energy. We were warned about pickpockets, but never had a problem and were not bothered by people selling things. Of course we were with our Russian speaking guide who kept us away from the bigger crowds.

“shopping”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

There is a lot of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. A place to come in the evening for dinner or before going back home to buy gifts for your friends.

“Worth a go”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We went on a wonder down Nevsky Prospekt on a recent trip to St Petersburg, not quite as expected. You cant really compare this to shopping streets in the west, no real big chain shops just local boutiques etc (which is a good thing). Definitely very busy, even thought we didnt see anything dodgy i would agree with being careful with your things, but no different from any other big city in that respect! Some beautiful buildings, interesting shops and food places but dont expect it to take your whole day up!

“Times Square East”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

SPB is often called Venice of the north. I say Nevsky Prospect is Time Square of SPB. Red Square probably gets the moniker for all of Russia, but Nevsky is the place in SPB, hands down. Love walking outside, enjoying the canals, the shops and the people. What a cool downtown, with real old world feel. It was fun strolling. I could do it for hours.

“Urban Travelers Delighted”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

My wife and concluded our vacation and enjoyed the Nevsky for the history, culture, cafe's, shopping and feel of the city. We walked the whole Nevsky and were delighted at it.
We read reviews of pickpockets, my wife and I have been to New york, Rome, London, Athens, Spain, North Africa, Middle East, etc,,and have been warmed of the pick pockets. We suggest don't carry a back pack, leave it at the hotel and only carry the money you need in your front pocket or have a fanny pack.
As for the scams, like in most cities walk bye them. If you take precautions the Nevsky is great place to walk, eat, shop and get a feel of the people of St. Peterburg.
