We really enjoyed our time strolling Nevsky Prospect and looking at the impressive buildings that line the street. The Kazan Cathedral, modeled after St. Peter's in Rome, the famous Dom Knigi book store, Elissev Delicatessen, the Russian State Museum, and the picturesque, not to be missed, Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood are some of the sites either on the street or a short stroll away. Hotels, shops and restaurants line the avenue and there is a vibrant, busy energy. We were warned about pickpockets, but never had a problem and were not bothered by people selling things. Of course we were with our Russian speaking guide who kept us away from the bigger crowds.
