Owner description: One of the best examples of Baroque-style architecture, this splendid blue and white "Sailors' Church" topped with five glistening golden cupolas contains many 18th-century icons, ten magnificent paintings and walls that convey the history of the Russian navy.

Still very much functioning as a place of worship this church is a must see. Amazing architecture from the outside and a beautiful interior full of candles and locals praying. Really interesting to see a church still working and nice to see it not turned into a tourist money trap. Definitely worth a see is its beautiful location among the canals.

You can see this in the distance from the Ambassador Hotel, so we had to go. Found 2 resturants, so 3 great reasons to visit.

Blue and white on the outside, and a pretty sight, especially viewed across the canal. The interior is dark and less interesting, and it is a working church, so silence, no photography and no sinful women's hair on view.

Wonderful structure..and the colours are great.
Mind the pick pockets ..there is a market just around the corner, but it is all clothes for locals...

This is one of those churches in St. Petersburg a bit away from the center, but worth seeing if you have the time. It is dedicated to the naval heroes and has names of those servicemen who lost their lives in various wars written on the walls of the Cathedral. It is one of the only churches to have remained open in St. Petersburg during the Soviet period.
