This Palace is well worth visiting and the theatre is lovely. However, although we encountered two helpful members of staff, in general the staff seem very dour and a special mention must go to the lady in the audio guide room was particularly abrupt and miserable. It would cost nothing to smile.
The Yusupov Palace gives you an insight into the private rooms of a very rich family and it was not too busy either. We did not visit the Rasputin exhibition because it was not open the morning we were there, but the Palace is still worthwhile. Our concierge said it was 250 rubles entrance fee, but it was 500 rubles - foreign entrance fee. It is such a shame some of the art that was once displayed in the Palace is not loaned back from the vast collection in the Hermitage. It would give a better idea of the original use of the building.
