We went to the "Dachniki" after an event with Russian friends who recommended the place for its simple but good 'Soviet-style food'. We can confirm that the food is simple and good. Service is very professional, prices are on the lowish side. The place is very good for what it is.

For starters, we had a Georgian salad and beef tongue which was both very good. As a main course, we chose "shashlik", a sort of shish kebab, one was pork, and the other lamb. Both were freshly prepared on their charcoal barbecue. The meat was excellent, in particular the pork which was tender and succulent. We both drank an unfiltered beer which we would not recommend.

Recommended for an original meal which is both cheap and good.

Shahlyk (kebab) and the salad vinegrett are the top dishes which you must try there. Very nice atmosphere with old Russian films on TVs made me feel in 1985.

I have been here twice now! I think its my favourite place in st.Pete. the atmosphere is nice, service more friendly than average and for delicious.

They even have dominoes to play while you wait in the colourfully decorated cabin. I will probably attend again before I leave!

Very fun and inexpensive lunch. Had a hard time locating, but then it seemed so obvious, how could we miss it! Listen for the sounds of farm animals, and you are there!

Found this place by accident on the way back from the Hermitage set on the Nevsky Prospek. Like most shops and restaurants you enter a small door and descend to the restaurant. The first thing we were aware of was no smoking there is a separate smokers area well away from the non smokers. . Brilliant. I tried the Seledka pod shu boi dressed herring sSalad and pancakes with red caviar red onions eggs and sour cream followed by a hearty hot flavoursome bowl of borsch soup with sour cream and black rye bread. All were totally delicious and inexpensive. My partner had pork a la Russe baked with potatoes served on a very hot iron plate. Beer included bottled honey beer dark and light beers and bud. Good selection of French Chilean and Italian wines and a port from the Ukraine. Other main courses included potatoes with pork brisket for two at 410 roubles about £8. Very good value. Chicken Kiev at £5 there a outs. They do some nice desserts including strawberry soup. Yum. If you want to while away some extra time. You can borrow cards and board games too. The restaurant also has an in house smoke shed!!
