Owner description: On the 8th of June in 2012 the national show-museum «Grand Maket Rossiya» opened its doors hospitably for the wide auditory. By this time, thousands of citizens and quests of our city watched this unique exhibition. On the layout area of 800 square meters you will see the generalized images of cities and regions of Russia. Hundreds of moving trains and cars, sound and light effects add dynamics to the exposition and thousands of tiny figures make the genre scenes. Add the astonishing effect of day and night changing doesn`t leave a single visitors indifferent.

“Quirky and interesting”

I never knew a model village type attraction could be so fun. I went with a massive group of school friends, and everyone seemed to love it. I would recommend this to anyone - the concept is so simply, yet so well executed. I love the interactive buttons and all the lighting and sound effects. So, so, so enjoyable!

“Such a treasure!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

We took a short taxi ride to get here, as our hotel staff advised that it was not well served by public transport. This is a dream-come-true for anyone who pays attention to detail. All of Russia is spread out in miniature with moving trains, cars, amusement parks, falling trees, flashing lightening, even chickens pecking in the dirt.
The artistry is beautiful, the technology is breathtaking and our family loved it. Most impressive: although the staff spoke little English and we spoke very little Russian, they made a point of communicating to us details such as the "making-of" film downstairs and other details. They went out of their way to make sure we understood and that was lovely.

“Astounding!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Make sure to come and see it at the beginning of the opening hours, otherwise there might be far too many people for you to enjoy the whole maket properly. However it is most definitely worth it. I have seen many museums and exhibitions during my travels, but honestly, nothing like this one. It's basically a massive set of model-train tracks on 800 square metres. The whole maket represents different regions of Russia.
The detail and thought put into making it is simply amazing, you'll be stunned by how meticulously each small person or prop is. Many parts are interactive, you push the button and something happens. Fires are happening on the maket regularly, there's smoke and water from the firebrigade's pipes. Trains are running through the set, along with cars, the light is changing so you can see the whole maket in an emulated night.
Unbelievable amount of work must have been put into it, so I understand there are some basic rules to make sure it won't be destroyed, i.e. taking pictures only from behind the borders of the maket and not touching anything. I believe this is a well-run attraction really worth seing, if not on your first trip to St. Petersburg, then on subsequent ones.
