Stayed here for four nights on sightseeing trip.

This is a difficult hotel to grade as it is a quality establishment with good service but in the main I would describe the hotel as very good but not outstanding. We were in the standard entry level room which was of good quality but you could have been in any newly opened 4 star plus/5 star hotel. The room was large enough as was the bathroom, so no complaints on that front.

The plus points were:
- Very central location and convenient for most of the sights
- Good and helpful service (the air con in our first room was making a noise and we were relocated to another room within 15 minutes). This was a major plus rather than the usual which would have been to send for the maintenance man!
- Percorso restaurant was very good with a chef who took an interest in his diners. The service here was excellent and friendly (whilst expensive it is no more than the City's other better quality restaurants)
- Nice open main restaurant for breakfasts etc (light and airy)

The slight minus points were
- Whilst ok, the breakfasts were not to usual FS standards
- The lobby area is disjointed so the hotel felt it lacked a soul

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would come back as it would never be a wrong choice.

I love the service at any Four Seasons hotel. And this hotel also provides good service. Nonetheless do hope you are interested to listen to the few problems we did encounter.
On day when I arrived I used Xander Bar approximately at 18:30. My friends and I ordered a glass of Champagne Cristal Vintage and a dry martini. I noticed that a bottle of champagne Cristal Vintage was already opened when brought to our table but absolutely full. I did not find any understanding why champagne, which offers by almost $300 per glass, was opened if nobody ordered (I guess because the bottle was full). Anyway I wasn’t satisfied about taste of it and ordered another kind of champagne, which was perfect. I must say service was excellent and no fuss with providing an alternative champagne. After 7pm we decide to repeat our drinks and after that time new staff was working. The bartender knew the basics of making a dry martini but was flawed in its execution. He put ice into shaker than poured vodka into with the ice and then went looking for the martini, that took 3-5 minutes, then he had a conversation with a colleague. When the bartender finally returned to making the drink it was of course diluted (ice melts) vodka and too warm. Nonetheless he served the dry-martini and the taste of that was awful. I explained to him why. I explained that he must to mix a cocktail only when he has all ingredients ready to not allow the ice to dilute the vodka too much (indeed he should use only cold vodka) Rather than listening and learning the bartender tried to explain himself and argue that it was good. Eventually he replaced the drink.
Regarding breakfast restaurant I should say that waiter added extra breakfast to my bill. It was corrected after I said about double amount. The only other thing I would say is that the general coffee served at breakfast is undrinkable.
Regard to the gym there is no clock, it is inconvenient, I could not find what time it is especially if no any staff there. Also the floor is good quality and cleans but a bit slippery. I use sport shoes and still not comfortable and it can be dangerous if one is lifting heavy loads.

A lovely building that has been very well renovated and made into a fantastic hotel. The rooms are wonderful, service is exemplary and the spa is very good. Prices for the spa are quite expensive, however the treatments are very good. The pool area is very, very nice. The Italian Restaurant - Percorso is wonderful, the Xander bar is fantastic.

Room Tip: Inside rooms are nice and quiet

The Four Seasons Lion Palace is in old place and very well located near the Hermitage museum.
It's restaurant and bars are outstanding and surpasse only by the excellence of all the personnel of the hotel.

The name lion comes from the two lion sculptures in the entrance. So don't be afraid. This hotel is a mansion of a Tsar time oligarch. Nowadays they build bigger and more sumptuous. NOW: the four seasons are four seasons. The restaurants, the breakfast restaurant, the reception and the always smiling and ready to help you with anything staff is top class. They also speak perfect English. The hotel is very near the St. Isaac cathedral, and on walking distance to the top end and not so top end shops of the very famous Nevsky Prospect. (Prospect=Avenue). The rooms could have been better. They are not the usual the four seasons quality. They rather look like a hospital ward. But taking into consideration that this hotel was not built and was a mansion, I give them some slack. Bathrooms are large. But I personally did never understood why the showers have to be that complicated. The rain type shower can be turned on by a handle that passes from the telephone type shower which in the meantime passes from the rain type shower that gives you a cold shower and then a hot shower. And the handle should be at exactly the right place, otherwise you will have both showers running with no pressure. Try this with soap on your eyes and they give you an award. Has survived our shower award. But I admit the icy shower is invigorating. The rooms have no view. The breakfast is divine and ever always smiling trainees will get you anything (omelet with six egg yolks, bliah). The Italian restaurant is called IL PERCORSO. Give it a try at least once. It consists of three rooms, an open kitchen and a bar. The bar and the bartender will make your meal very much better. At the end the complimentary lemon sorbet doused with a little vodka and champagne was something that we wrote down. The chef is Italian and the dishes that he prepares are the best of Italian cuisine. Luxury don't come cheap. Rooms (normal) will set you back a grand with the Imperial Breakfast. The opposite of most Four Seasons hotels in this one the service is not included. Did you get the message? Be good.
