When I was looking for a hotel i searched for a place not far from Nevsky avenue. But when i checked in(you can check in during early hours also)and observed this mini hotel, i was surprised how this small hotel can be so cozy and clean, the interior of the place is also very unique.Even if you chose a room without bathroom, there are two bathrooms in the corridor, both always clean, and have everything you need inside.
What makes you feel even more welcomed is friendly and responsive personnel. For any question that I had I got clear explanation.
I am glad that I chose this hotel and definitely will stay here again.
Thanks for hotel pereonnel one more time

The rooms are really tiny and walls are almost transparent, so definitely not a choice for couples. However, all premises are extremely clean, breakfast is fantastic and at any hour (even at 5 am!) and the girls at the reception are marvellously helpful and always with a smile. The location is perfect, too - so close to Nevsky and to the main train station. If you are there just to sleep, I recommend.

Room Tip: Don´t be afraid of the main entrance into the building..it is scary as many of the Russian courtyard...

This is a wonderful place to stay in St. Peter, is hidden in one street very close to the main street and is very original, clean, calm. The Manager, a girl called Raya, was amazing, very smily, kind and she speaks english!!!!! I would recommend to the owner of the place to hire people in the reception that speak english please because is very important for tourist. I LOVE THE PLACE.

Room Tip: Les recomendaría que pregunten por los diseños que tiene cada habitación, ya que varian y están muy...

The inside of the 5th floor of an old Soviet building has been transformed into a delightful, bright, beautifully decorated paradise. If you are a couple or friends travelling on a budget that want a break from noisy dirty hostels, this place is made for you!

For about $40 AUD a night (awsome price for something so lovely and in such a great location in Saint Petersburg!) you get an emacuately clean double room with the softest beds you've slept on in months, beautiful decor, gorgeous modern shared bathrooms, kitchen facilities, incredibly friendly hosts that will drop everything to help you and the rate includes a generous and delicious breakfast each morning, carefully made and brought into your room on a tray.

No the employees don't speak much English, but Google translate on the computer at the front desk and the girls being friendly and wanting to understand and always help you fixes this. They replied to my email after we'd booked with a map showing directions on how to find the place, and they offered advice during our stay and helped us figure out how to get to the airport (and still made us breakfast at 6:30 am the next morning before our departure!)

Location:
- It's a fantastic place to stay as it is super close to the metro which is cheap and the best way to get around the city to see all the sites. Great little supermarket 30 seconds walk down the road for lunch/dinner supplies.
- We trained up to Saint Petersburg from Moscow and you can walk from this BIG main train station to the B&B in about 20 mins (great flat pavements, easy to roll suitcases down). They'll email the instructions on how to get there if you ask - it's an easy walk down 2 fairly long streets.
- If you're getting to the B&B from the subway, you want to get off at the 'Mayakovskaya' station (where the green and red lines meet). Simply walk out of the station onto Marata Street, turn right and walk about 5 mins down the road until you get to a green building called 'Cafe Claret' (it has a large obvious sign). Directly on the opposite side of the road to this cafe is the Lane you walk down to get to the B&B (the sign for it says something a bit like "Amлnya"). Walk through the gate, straight across the small carpark and ring the bell of the Brown metal door right in front of you. They'll buzz you in and you can use the super tiny lift to get up to the 5th floor where they'll welcome you warmly :-) (warning - the lift is so tiny that if there's two of you and you each have a small suitcase you'll have to go up seperately - it's an old Soviet building remember!)

Tip: Don't be afraid to use the metro/subway even if you know no Russian. It's a great way to get around the city (look up the free walking tours!). Just get yourself the subway map and match the colours and the characters of the words on it to the walls in the subway to figure out which way to go - and remember to count the number of stops while on the train to know when to get off!

Just like PriethaPhe said :)
After the smelly, dirty stairway.. beautifull, cozy, clean, just perfect room.
Only negative thing was - noone spoke English, not a word..
the good was that we are Croatians, so we understand some of Russian words.
Our host was Viera - nice and helpfull, but on Russian.
Perfect location, in the center of the city and right next to the metro station.
WiFi was very good.
Breakfast in the room - OK. Just enough, some bread, cheese, coffe and tea.

First time i walked into the building, found a smelly things at the first floor, we didn't notice that the elevator is there (lift are very small, occupied by two person without your luggage)

Amplua hotel located at the 5th floor, the receptionist very small also the gangway... but then i walked into our room and found out that our room was ZUPER DUPER COZY! i love my room! Raya gave us the private bathroom inside!

Flat tv, fully furnish decoration, unique wallpaper, towels, hairdryer and soap are provided.

you can use the kitchen, internet connection is OK but sometimes ups and downs.

but the most important is: the location of Amplua is very perfect, in the central of Saint Petersburg, i love the location..

Raya is the host of Amplua, thank you for being so nice to us, you really did a great job, she's very well English speaking and very helpful
