My wife and I were put here for 4 nights as part of a package tour and loved the place. It is on a quiet island across a small bridge from the rest of town. It is about a mile from the Mariinskiy Theatre and about 2 miles from the nearest metro station. However, the hotel operates a free shuttle that runs in the morning and evening (but not in the afternoon) to connect to the Metro--and they will drop you anywhere along the way as well. With a little planning, you can manage just fine. We really enjoyed the quiet out there.
The room was very comfortable with a solid bed and a good-sized bathroom. Breakfast was basic, but good. Most of the staff does not speak English--this is not an American tourist place at all--but we managed just fine. All in all a delightful place. Oh...the square where the shuttle let's you off has lot's of cheap little cafes and some of the tastiest bread you ever encountered! We did not encounter a single person speaking English along the way, so if that matters to you, you might want one of the big tourist complexes. But again, we loved it!More
