“Comfortable and well located”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

The Petro Palace is centrally located in the heart of St. Petersburg. All the attractions are easily within walking distance, and the pier for the Peterhof hydrofoils and river cruises is 10 minutes walk away. The rooms are very comfortable, although the dark brown décor makes them a little dark. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a nice lounge bar which sells tasty sandwiches, which are reasonably priced. The breakfast is good, with a decent selection. The little gift shop is also very reasonably priced. All in all I would be quite happy to stay here again. The hotel is very clean and tidy and in the best location compared to other hotels of the same class and price.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quitter as the front is on a busy street.

All my negative points relate to the money I paid and the value I expected and did not receive:
very narrow room, in fact the room was higher than wider. But the main problem was with the beds.We received two separate beds but they were very narrow also, I think not wider than one meter. It was not a comfortable sleep for me .
This category of room is called :Executive room !Otherwise the room's surface is big:there is a big working table near the window an armchair. The closet is big as well the place where they put the coffee maker. The mini bar is well stocked. The bathroom seems renovated and was very nice and big with plenty of room for all our amenities.
The breakfast was OK but far from a four star rated hotel.Basics and nothing more compared to what you expect.
One morning they forget to wake us up.
One day they did not refresh the amenities

The good points: centraly located at a walking distance from all main attractions.Metro station just around the corner.Bus station in front of the hotel.A pizza restaurant on the eight floor. Very clean rooms and public areas. Two bottles of min.water each day.Good service and correct service but nothing more.A/c in the room worked perfectly and was one of the quietest I met.

In conclusion: most of the rooms are narrow and facing a courtyard. They are quiet rooms.Very expensive for what you get.

Room Tip: no recommandation for rooms in this hotel

Unfortunatelly we stayed only for one night in this hotel, but for sure, this is going to be the first choice when we come back to Saint Petersburg. We recommend!
It was quite a surprise when we arrieved. The bilding is really nice, and the rooms are the best!

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be good rooms.

A good priced hotel four stars, but without four-star service. The hotel is very well located. The rooms are nice but not the bathroom. Even a two-stars hotel has a betetr bathroom. We had a good breakfast. The hotel has a gift shop located inside the hotel with the best prices possible. It is worth to check . The staff is not helpful and the concierge service is not efficient. It is a hotel for those who are concerned about location. The location of this hotel is excellent. You will pay a value four star hotel, with inconsistent service.

We stayed here as part of a disable tour through Liberty Travel. As said excellent location. Our room was 412 a wheelchair accessible room with roll in shower. Spacious and comfortable room. Breakfast ro has a ramp and there is an accessible toilet on the first floor. Pool and gym are only accessible downstairs near the breakfast room. The stairs are well spaced, but not usable for someone who uses a wheelchair at all times. Easy steps into the pool. Be aware that in St Petersburg ramps can also mean a large gap and possibly no ramp on the other side. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in St Petersburg. Staff very helpful and most staff speak English.

We had a 6 night stay at Petro Palace Hotel and can recommend it for being close to the major sites and public transport. The metro is a 2 min walk away and the hydrofoil to Peteroff can be reached in 10 mins.

There are some good eating spots close by as well.

Only two issues, the rooms were very hot, the A/C for most of our stay sat at 26-28C and avoid having a drink in the foyer bar as it is very expensive, instead try the bar next door.

This is probably not the best hotel in St. Petersburg in terms of luxury but is located next to Admiralty, the Hermitage, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and within walking distance to the Church of Spilled Blood and major shopping attractions on Nevskyi Prospect. The hotel is in a historic building with high ceilings and big rooms that are large but not cozy. The TV did not work for us but who has time to watch TV in St. Petersburg? They have cash machine on the 1st level: very convenient! The concierge had information on all kinds of tours available for any group size and any language. We also enjoyed their restaurant with good local food and singing and dancing Gypcies and a bear (a guy dressed like a bear ;-)
