The room smelled strange. I've managed to ventilate it after two days with open window (loud street). No chair or table to work with computer. Instead - mirrors all around huge bed.... Definitely it is not a business style hotel.
Bathroom - clean and big enough. Breakfasts unexpectedly good. Working, stable WiFi. Location - unfortunately the nearest metro station was closed for renovation. But still it is good location, some minutes by taxi to the most interesting points in city.
Good for lovers, not so good for business trip.

Room Tip: The 'Kamennoostrovskiy' street is terribly loud. Choose rooms on the other side.

Don't be put off by the exterior. Maybe it was because we arrived after midnight and the bar down the road was heaving but we took one look and very nearly got the taxi to take us elsewhere! (Although not the one arranged by the hotel as the driver was truly certifiable!) The reception area is a bit drab too. The room on the other hand was great, loved the decor , best air conditioning of a three week trip ditto with the free wifi. Location is great it really is a couple of minutes walk to Nevsky Prospect. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is pretty dire despite the friendly lady serving it and the nice breakfast room. They would do better to just charge for the room and let you get your own. All in all a nice place and even with the disappointing breakfast it was good value for money.

We stayed here for 3 days. Before our arrival, Vikas, from reservation department was very helpful in sorting out our invitation letter and visa via email. The hotel itself is beside the main road. It is about 100-200 meters from the nearest metro station. Our room was cozy, minimalist, modern and clean. The breakfast is in the adjoining bar. Food was okay and filling but nothing to shout home about. There are plenty of restaurant around the area should one wants to have dinner outside. Overall, I would be happy to recommend this hotel.

Stayed there in dbl room during our this summer's team-building party.
Very good, not noisy and interesting place, good breakfast, pleasant receptionists.
The only problem - you cann't get in, if you left the cafe (which is out of Vasil'evskiy island) after midnight.

Not really a bad hotel, but nothing there to recommend. Room was a good size but the bed was poorly constructed and lumpy to sleep on. Shower over the bath went from hot to just warm frequently. Curtains were a flimsy mess that let in light all the time. Laundry takes 2 days instead of the usual "same day" service.

There is a bar/restaurant next door that serves breakfast (okay) and dinner (better, but expensive). Does not serve Russian beer???

Location is okay, but is a good 30 minute walk from the main sights.

Stayed for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is good, close to the city centre and major attractions.

The room was spacious and clean, but poorly furnished. It had a large window and its curtain was very transparent, so it let all the light went through it (this is very important in late May, because the night is very short…).

Breakfast and dinner was OK, limited options but tasty food.

Not the best city hotel I’ve stayed in, but it suited our needs to use it as base to visit the city. There should be better options in the same price range.

We stayed 3 nights in Stony Island Hotel in twin bed classic room. First thing when entering from busy street level to hotel you notice the cleanness. Everything is modern and effecient, and works as you would expect. Our twin bed room was standard size, so there wasn't any wild open spaces, but somehow it felt just a bit bigger than usual standard rooms. Furnitures were new, there was modern flavour in design and great part was that bathroom was beatiful and spacious. The more nights we spent in the hotel, the more i began to appreciate the service, modern touch to hotel and the location. It was in nice neighbourhood, just next to subway. Breakfast was good, altough coffee wasn't that great. Tasty bean souce, potatos and sausages deserve special mention. I would recommend this hotel for both leasure and business travellers. Free cable internet was offered in rooms (altough we did not try it) and free wifi in hotel pub and lobby.
