“First time in Russia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

Went to Russia for the first time in my life and stayed in this hotel advised by one of the guides on the internet. The hotel provided visa support documents for me and there were no problems to get a visa.. Was met by lovely lady on the reception Olesia who was very kind and polite .It seemed like she couldn't do enough to help and explained everything thoroughly. The room was nice, spacious, and clean. The bathroom was immaculate. I didn't go for breakfast though the restaurant on the upper floor was very beautiful and viewed the city. I preferred to have breakfast delivered by room service. The only negative issue was room service didn't speak English and struggled to understand the basic communication i was trying to put across. The food was good though and was nice to have a breakfast I hadnt had before seeing as a new country and culture experience. I Would like to mention the bellboy Baham who seemed always helpful and positive. Svetlana at the Concierge desk was a real mine of information giving recommendations that were based on her knowledge and experience rather feeling she was recommending places she knew nothing about. Based on her recommendations my dining and sightseeing experiences were thus enhanced. This is a good point to make. A local girl who obviously knew the City very well and . I used the pool and gym though didn't venture into the sauna. The pool was warm and clean and very quiet. The gym was reasonably equipped and it was nice to get some training done in the hotel whilst I stayed. I'd definitely stay here again and hope to in the near future. It gets the big thumbs up from me. Simon from Swindon UK

Really comfortable beds with good linen. Superior rooms are spacious and relaxing. Everything works properly, really appreciated a bathroom mirror that did not steam up after a shower. Lovely breakfasts with panoramic view of St. Petersburg skyline. Hotel feels quite glamourous and is kept gleamingly clean. Staff well trained and seem genuinely friendly. Very nice pool for a morning swim. Ideal location for Mariinsky theatre five minutes walk away. Excellent value for money on a deal through Booking.com. Did not try restaurant as it looked dauntingly expensive, but found several very good, reasonably priced restaurants within 5 minutes walk.

We had such an amazing time in St-Petersburg. The hotel is beautiful and located in the center of St-Petersburg, walking distance to a subway. The breakfast was rich. The rooms were clean and there was always someone available in case if you need something. The staff at the reception, especially charming Natalia, is very professional and helpful. She did not hesitate to go extra mile to make sure that the guests are enjoying their stay not only at the hotel but also in St-Petersburg. We had a great experience and we want to go back.

I would attribute the hotel to 5 star, due to swimming pool availability. Pity, usage for free was restricted by morning hours. Nice breakfast, excellent location, helpful and properly trained personnel. I would mention concierge service by Svetlana. Top professionalism is noticeable though small nuances on the edge of job duty obligations. Once again, thank you Svetlana. On the whole - very comfortable stay. Will do it again ...

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views but noisier from restaurant parties on weekends

Good hotel, spacious, quiet, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, a bit out of view, but within a good walking distance from the city center. On the other hand, the location facilitates access by car to Pulkovo airport. Traffic in St. Petersburg is heavy and a good idea is to avoid the main road at rush hour. The neighborhood is largely residential with a cozy atmosphere and many small places where klocals meet.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

First, the closest metro station is located at half a mile from the hotel. Moreover Sadovaya square, is a very good place to it, or enter up to 3 lines of metro.
The breakfast is full of cold and hot dishes, including homemade pastries, salmon, French fries etc... And the food isnt that much greasy (for russian/european dishes).
Fruit juices are good, the coffee tastes like hot water (like anywhere else in Russia actually).
The rooms are outfitted wiuth good quality conveniences.
Nethertheless, the swimming pool is charged past 11 am o'clock, (it costs 650 roubles).

I stayed at the Ambassador in mid-December. I've stayed here several times and each visit is wonderful. My room is clean, cozy and comfortable. The delicious breakfast buffet is a wonderful way to start the day. The hotel is conveniently located to the Philharmonic Hall, museums and the Metro. A great neighborhood conducive to walking. The hotel's transport to and from the airport is terrific - always on time, even if the flight isn't! Look forward to my next stay! Thank you all!
