Reviewed 4 October 2013

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The staff is very service-oriented and we even got a small fruit basket delivered to our room after arrival. The room was very clean and spacious with a wonderful - and big - stall shower. The breakfast was fantastic as well, and the one meal we ate at the hotel was delightful.

It was about a half mile to the Metro station, which then connected to most of the sights we wanted to see, like the Hermitage and the Catherine Palace.

Although we found no problems with the hotel, we were forced to leave St. Petersburg a day early because of the G20, but we would have liked to stay another day.

About the taxis: From the airport to the hotel and back is a fixed, fair rate. As is any trip you book from your hotel. However, hailing a cab in the city can be exasperating. We did OK by haggling a little, but always be prepared to walk away and take a bus or the Metro - or a different cab.

We had the pleasure of staying at this stylish hotel for one week, and I must say it has been a perfect choice. It is conveniently located within a short walking distance to the Metro Station, from which you can easily arrive in the city center, at the first stop.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and we couldn't find anything that would need improvement.
Breakfast was great and diverse, well suited for even the pickiest of guests. The hotel restaurant also serves great food and cocktails.
The hotel employees were extremely helpful and kind, this staff being among the friendliest I have met among my travels. They helped us with information long before we arrived in Saint Petersburg. The boys in the night shift were really pleasant and eager to help when we needed something.
It has been an overall excellent experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for business or pleasure. We look forward to a future visit.

This hotel is well located on an island just off of St Petersburg. The metro station is close by (10 minute walk) making it easy for sight seeing and getting here from the airport not using a cab....Stay away from
them if you can. Check in was very easy, we had an Executive room which was very clean and modern. I found it hard to find a great deal wrong with this hotel, the only issues was no Tea or coffee making facilities in the room, you had to call down to reception who brought some up free of charge. We did miss a bath in our room but wasn't that important and the TV is very small. Our parents had a standard room but got upgraded to a family room on check in which was nice. The buffet breakfast is ok, could be a bit better quality. I do have to mention Denis at Reception who was the most outstanding Hotel employee I have ever come across. We travel a lot and I've never come across someone so helpful and persistent as him. Our flights got cancelled due to the G20 on the 6th September and no flight where leaving from St Petersburg plus our Visa's ran out so we couldn't stay in Russia!! Not even stay an extra night in the hotel. Denis spent 4 hours with us organising a train back to Moscow at 1.40am and then our flight onto Vienna. This did cost us much more but was worth it with less stress with his help. Words could never thank him enough :) on top of all this, he organised a breakfast to go for the overnight 8.5 hour train ride. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and would return here if I come back to Russia.

This was a very pretty hotel in a very ordinary street. It isn't far from the metro, just a couple of blocks. If however you are walkers like us, it is a great location as you can get to all of the areas quite easily. The rooms are beautiful, however there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. You either have the option of calling down or going down to the lobby to purchase tea and coffee or if like us we usually take our own tea/coffee you can request a pot of hot water in your room. Doesn't always arrive hot. Most of the staff are relatively friendly and helpful given that we only speak English! However due to some difficulties with the airline we were incredibly lucky to have Denis as the staff member on duty that evening who helped us far above and beyond his duty to book trains and planes to get us out of Russia within our visa limits. Without Denis this would have been an incredibly difficult stressful time. I can not thank him enough. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful, personal hotel with excellent service, clean nice rooms, very good breakfast and the little extra small things you appreciate when being on vacation! We got very good advice on places and restaurants to visit. Situated relatively central on vasilievsky island on a not too noisy side street. We really have nothing to complain about.

St. Petersburg is expensive. This is a wonderful hotel that is very reasonably priced for St. Petersburg and very comfortable. The staff is very helpful, friendly and speak English, which we rarely experienced in St. Petersburg.

Although this hotel is across the bridges from the main tourist areas, it's only a few blocks from a metro station - a great subway system. If you have limited time in the city, it would be worth taking the subway once you have an idea of the city layout. If you decide to walk to the main sites, you aren't far from the river and you'll get a great workout and views that are beautiful -especially at night.

It's in a quiet, residential/working class area. I never felt unsafe in the area near the hotel even though the area seems to be in transition - many buildings being updated. There are some restaurants in the area and small grocery stores.

If you have issues with walking or using the subway, this hotel isn't for you. If those aren't issues for you, this hotel offers great value and a very comfortable stay.

I would like to have given this hotel an excellent review as the team were very warm and welcoming and the rooms clean and fairly comfortable; however it is very far out of town and breakfast was chaotic! One morning a wedding party were resident and that morning all the tables were full and staff could not cope with the flow of people, nor keep the buffet topped up. Tables outside were more spacious, but getting cutlery or attention there was very difficult! The other issue is it is much further from city centre then we anticipated but we like walking and so did. Quality of food offered at breakfast was very good for Russia. Having said all that the last minute booking offer presented excellent value and the room was quiet. English spoken, team tried hard and we were all greeted with a cold drink, I was offered "Russian Champagne" labelled as such, it was an interesting drink and much enjoyed after quite a journey from the train station.

Room Tip: upstairs rooms away from the lift was quiet
