A great little hotel in the heart of the main tourist area. Good English spoken in both the reception area and in the attached restaurant where breakfast was served. Good selection for breakfast - pancakes, porridge, eggs, cheese, sausage cereal. Very clean and comfortable. It was quiet outside at night but I think that's because of the temperature outside when I was there! The canal that the hotel overlooks was very much frozen.

This is the sort of place that does exactly what it says on the tin. It's basic but clean and comfortable, very well located and extremely friendly (with good English spoken). The breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel was very good too.

They were also extremely helpful in providing additional documentation etc. when one of our party ran into problems trying to obtain a Russian visa in New Zealand.

I'd chosen this place from the TripAdvisor reviews and I was not disappointed.

My only slight quibbles were the noisy fridge in the room (which I turned off) and the rather odd placement of light switches (but that seems to be a Russian thing).

Booked on-line and arrived after overnight crossing from Tallinn. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. English spoken. Room was great and hotel central and right up against Hermitage and Nevskiy Prospekt. Very warm (outside temperature -15 to -20 C). Location is pretty and quiet. Attached restaurant is good and well priced and there is a great choice in easy walking distance. Arrived on my birthday and without any prompting the staff placed a bottle of wine and glasses in the room. Very nice touch and much appreciated. We were sorry to leave. Would we stay there again? Absolutely. Many thanks to all the staff and hope to see you again soon.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor (first for UK travellers) over the street and canal and we slept very...

We chose this Hotel from Trip adviser and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is ideally located on the Moyka canal a couple of minutes from the Hermitage and the lovely Winter Canal leading to the embankment of the Neva- both of which were fully frozen when we were there. You can imagine the Hotel as the home of the Pushkin family that it was for around 100 years. The stairs and lift are delightful and very much in traditional style. The staff are brilliant, particularly of note is Julia on reception who is so helpful and (almost!) speaks better English than I do! Breakfast and meals are next door (literally 5 steps) in the Hotel's restaurant which seems to be open all day. Food is excellent and highly recommended as is the local draft beer. And with 25% discount on the total bill (food and drink) the meals are very good value.

Room Tip: Back rooms overlooking the Courtyard (car park) are very quiet

On one of St Petersburg's charming canals, this is a great location literally just 'around the corner' from the Winter Palace/Hermitage. Also within walking distance of other key atractions of St Petersburg. Well appointed in a boutique, 'pension' style with very helpful staff. Breakfast was good. Enjoyed staying there.

I travelled with my wife and although we are not young around 60 of age we experienced an excellent hotel, location and hospitality, we also took a Insider Guide for 4 days, it was worth it.
Although we travelled in January/February it was bitter cold -16/-23c, well that is Russia cold and snow, We did not mind it as the guide was very helpful.
The food was excellent especially the restaurant of Pushka Hotel who also gave us 15% discount. We were advised to pay attention for pickpockets and other mishaps but we can say it was rather safe.
