I stayed at Pushka Inn in April 2012 and had a marvelous experience. The phenomenal staff was helpful, informative and patient...even when I felt we were being annoying. For example, on our day of departure we needed to check in to our flights and print out our boarding passes for the airport and the hotel manager on duty let us use her private "back room" office computer with the printer. The front desk staff also made all of our taxi and dinner reservations for the entire trip. Lesser hotels probably would've been frustrated by our neediness, but we were treated with the utmost courtesy. They definitely went the extra mile.
I was traveling in a group of three people and we stayed in the 3 bedroom, 2 full bathroom family apartment, which was clean and comfortable. The decor is lovely and the hotel didn't seem run-down, obviously it is nothing like the Taleon or Astoria, but it would be ridiculous to compare it to that standard anyway! The location leaves little room for improvement, only a stone's throw from the Hermitage. The hotel's breakfast, provided at the adjacent restaurant, is basic but delicious. I could've eaten platefuls of the crepes!
If I were to nitpick, the only minor negative thing I experienced was that every day of our stay the hotel cleaning staff left our windows open after they finished cleaning our room. (Mind you, this was in April and still extremely cold weather; in fact, it snowed while we were visiting.) I understand the logic of opening the window while you are cleaning to air out the room, but please close the window before you finish so I don't return to a 30F room! Brr!
In short, I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone I know for a comfortable, affordable hotel in a stellar location with truly wonderful staff.
