The location is excellent, 100 meters from the Hermitage Square. Faces to the Moika river. It was a historical building fully renovated with very good taste from the western standard point of view. Comfortable big bedroom.
But above all excellent staff that DO SPEAK ENGLISH, which is not minor in Russia. Vladimir is a gem!
Also de the restaurant next door, where a great breakfast is served daily, has an excellent chef.
Congratulations! I will definitely recommend this hotel. I don´t do reviews, but seems fair to do it for this hotel.

Dear Margatips,
we all are pleased to read your warm review especially considering you never do it.
Vasily (not Vladimir:) and all our staff are really the most important "force" of the hotel activity and each guests' review with high estimation of the staff confirms it.

We'll do all our best to maintain this standard and we'll be happy to welcome you again at Pushka INN!

The small and homey Pushka Inn is located a block from Palace Square, the Hermitage, etc., Church on Spilled Blood, etc., on a major canal, and it is often in the middle of the most favored travel agency photos of St. Petersburg. Clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff (especially with the bus system), lovely breakfast in the restaurant next door. Try the restaurant for other meals, and don't miss the photo of Sec'y. of State Hillary Clinton with the staff. Pick up some instant coffee at a nearby convenience shop and make your own morning coffee with the hot-water dispensers on each floor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal.

Staff is overwhelmingly helpful and friendly. They never seemed put out by our requests and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable while waiting in their lobby for our midnight train to Moscow. Beds were comfortable and clean and the hotel is situated close to the Church on Spilled Blood and The Hermitage Museum. It is also close to Nevsky Prospect and the very excellent and refreshing Russian Museum. We had the room with balcony and were very pleased with that. This hotel has earned it's number 1 place for St. Petersburg!

Hint: The Pushka Inn breakfast was good, but not great. We ate there for dinner one night and while okay, we enjoyed the restaurant next door much better. This one is called the Yat and it is much more flavorful and well spiced, homey and comfortable!

Hotel Pushka Inn is a lovely hotel with the most accommodating staff I encountered on a four week trip. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, including directions to any "sight" we were heading out to see. Their breakfast room was next door, a restaurant that was also open to the public all day. The breakfast was included in the price of the room and we were offered a 20% discount on other meals. The food was great,
When we were leaving, they made arrangements for a taxi and made sure the driver understood our destination.

Room Tip: Room 308 was in a quiet corner.

If you are looking for all the amenities of a real 5 star hotel this is not that hotel. However if you are looking for service, location, comfortable beds, decent sized room then this is the place for you. Breakfast is included next door. It was good not great but good none the less.

A very old, well maintained traditional manor house style residence in an excellent location adjacent to major attractions.. Staff all spoke very good English and were most professional, friendly, helpful. Our room was well equipped with first class beds, bed linen etc. The restaurant provided a very good buffet breakfast and a good menu for other meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed here for our Anniversary from May 28th - June 1st. The hotel surprised by decorating our room with Rose Petals and had a bottle of Champagne on ice. We stayed in the room with the balcony that overlooked the river which we would highly recommend. It was nice at the end of the day to sit outside with some wine and watch the boats go by. The service provided by all staff members was excellent. Everyone went out of their way to make our trip thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast buffet was great.
