We couldn't have asked for more during our stay at the Pushka Inn in St. Petersburg. The location on the canal, with only short walks to many historic sites, including the Hermitage, St. Isaacs, Savior on Spilled Blood, Neva river, and Nevsky Prospekt was perfect. Breakfast in the adjoining cafe was well serviced with great selection, free WiFi at all times, bottled water stations on every floor (water is very expensive here), the room (we took a large suite with kitchenette for cooking) was cool, quiet and huge. The July heat was stifling in the city (as was the car pollution), so it was fantastic to retreat to the A/C sanctuary of our room a few times a day to recharge. As with any major city, if you are a light sleeper, be wary of rooms overlooking the street (or in this case, the canal) - as they can sometimes be noisy deep into the White Nights ...
I have to mention the desk staff - Vasily, Ekaterina, Anna, Julia - they were SO amazing! They helped out with everything from dinner reservations to securing last minute ballet tickets. спасибо
