I had the pleasure of staying for couple of days at the Nevsky Forum Hotel. I have to say that the service that I received was excellent! The staff is professional and speaks fluent English!

I will definitely stay at the Nevsky Forum Hotel when I visit StPetersburg next time!

This hotel is way overpriced. For $ 400 a night I would expect the following:

A room with a bathtub, not just a shower that features hot and cold water intermittently and does not drain properly, thus overflowing after only a few minutes of use.

An electronic safe that works and does not have to be replaced three times only to malfunction again after removal of a small item.

All lights to come on when light switch is turned on.

A room with a real bed, not a mere sofabed as in room 2001

A breakfast that features fresh fruit and juice, not just sausages floating around in tepid water.

This was my 3rd stay at the Nevsky Forum Hotel and each stay was met by friendly and attentive staff members. I first stayed there in September of 2006 at the recommendation of another hotel not affiliated with the Valka Hotel Group. This other hotel was unable to acommodate the first week of my stay in Saint Petersburg, but after staying at the Nevsky Forum Hotel I canceled my second week and remained at the Nevsky.

The staff treated me like family and never failed to meet my expectations (which tend to be quite high). The food was always prepared and presented fabulously. If not wanting to taste all the flavors of the city I could have had all my meals at the Hotels resturant.

I visited the city again in November of 2006 for 2 weeks again and stayed with the Nevsky Forum Hotel, again. Once again my expectations were met and surpassed. The rooms were comfortably furnished and always spotlessly clean.

I visited Saint Petersburg again in June and July of 2007. During my first 2 visits I made many new friends, one of whom offered to let me stay in a flat right on Nevsky pr. they rented during the summer without charge. However, I chose the Nevsky Forum Hotel.

This hotel is rated a 4 star hotel which in my opinion is an injustice. It should be a 5 star with the level of service this hotels staff goes to to make their guests stay as acommodating and comfortable as possible. They have gone so far beyond to meet my requests than what any other 5 star hotel, I have stayed with, has only politely said "Sorry".

I look forward to another stay at the Nevsky Forum Hotel in June 2008. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Saint Pertersburg, Russia.

Thank you to the Staff and Management of the Nevsky Forum for making my trips to your country's wonderful city better then I could ever have imagined!!

Our family booked 2 rooms ( #203 and #404 )for 4 nights at the Nevsky Forum Hotel from July 4th through July 8. This hotel is part of the Club Hotel chain and under the umbrella of the Valka Hotel Group. The group manages three other hotels, ie. Ermitage Hotel, Herzen Hotel, and Comfort Hotel.

We wanted to evaluate and experience a visit to St.Petersburg directly through a Russian travel agent rather then a US based agent. The hotel was recommended by the travel agency with whom I was dealing, Red October/Millennium Travel. The General Manager of the travel agency had inspected but not stayed at the hotel.

The hotel represents itself as being four (4) stars, citing the certification of some Russian agency. Our experience raises questions in my mind as to the reliability of the certification process in this country.

The hotel has the following positive aspects: it is well located on Nevsky Prospekt; the reception was very well-meaning; the room sizes were acceptable; the décor of the hotel and rooms were quite modern; and the internet is not wireless but has adequate DSL speed.

On the other hand, the rooms appeared to be only marginally clean (except for the bathrooms, which were spotless). There was only lukewarm water at best. We were told to run the water for 15-20 minutes to obtain hot water. It turned out that the heating system was undersized for the number of rooms. If you did not beat the morning rush by taking a shower by 5:30AM you would have cold water only …..at a hotel room price of US $300+. If you took a shower at midnight it was lukewarm. Additionally, the breakfast was below standard in offerings and terribly unsanitary in presentation and maintenance. The tables were left un-cleaned after a guest turnover; coffee was not refilled; glasses and cups were lacking; cutlery was difficult to locate and the dining room was woefully understaffed at the peak time (since the breakfast was offered only from 8-10 am, and this hotel claims to cater especially to business people, there is quite a rush from 8-9:30, as both business people and tourists clamor to make their morning appointments).

Our rooms, which were apparently newly finished, had problems with the air conditioning. The problem was remedied after a few hours.

Room #404 had not window shades or curtains and it was the White Night period.

The water problem was handled very unprofessionally by the identified General Manager, Sergei. He made it appear that this was the first time anyone had complained. We knew better because another staff member told us that this was not the case. When I brought the travel agent into the picture he told her that what my wife and I were saying was untrue. After a conference between my agent, the Gen Manager and myself we checked out of the hotel and moved to the Ambassador Hotel which was, in every possible sense of the word, 4 stars.

As we left the hotel in the pouring rain for a taxi, some fellow was helping with the luggage. It turns out that he was the General Manager of the Club Hotel chain, a fellow named Maxim (last name omitted). He did not introduce himself or involve himself in the conference although he was there the whole time.

Given our experience, and the misrepresentation of the standard, I would not recommend the Nevsky Forum Hotel. In my estimation, I would be hesitant to give it even a 3 star because it falls flat on the very basic requirements…hygiene and services. Additionally, because of the behavior of the direct and overseeing management I would stay clear of the other three hotels I mentioned earlier.
