We stayed 5 days in St Petersburg ib the holiday Inn and were surprised at the high quality and size of the room, the beds, location and staff service. The breakfast was good, and the cost is reasonable for Russia, the location is very close to a subway station which enables easy travelling to the city center. There is a nice supermarket close by (200 meters), which enables you to buy food and/or drinks and bringing them to your room.

the hotel is well located 20 min. from Pulkov Apt, and 15 minutes from City Centre.
Metro station nearby. the hotel is typical Holiday inn, you know what you get.
Rooms great, the hotel is 3 years old.
Breakfast is good except from the too loud music!!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Can't fault hotel, clean and standard HI rooms. 2 mins walk to metro stop (Moskovskie Vorota blue line). We caught the bus and then metro to hotel (21 rubles and 25 respectively), so very cheap! and easy to get to.

Nice size room with clean basic shower facility. No complaints.

Hotel has 2 or 3 bars - didn't use them. and Wifi (didn't work on our phones) in lobby area. Tabacs close by and supermarket if in dire need of munchies or liquid!

Most things are sign posted in English across S-P (unlike Moscow). Recommend staying and visiting at HI as blue line took us too all the main sights. We managed Peterhof and all the main attractions in 3 nights, not bad going.

Recommend Russian Kitsch restaurant (worth a visit and only a few metro stops away + 10 mins walk. Loacted at 25, Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya. Overlooks Neva river.
Recommend Cafe Romanoff (opposite Kazan Cathedral) for dinner - very nice and lovely sofas and blankets to cosy up with.
Recommend Cafe Singer (opposite Kazan Cathedral) - pricey but nice breakfast with again, lovely views of Kazan Cathedral.
Recommend - restaurant in Peterhof, Lower Park (forgotten the name) - great food and great beer!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Moskovky Vorota for 3 nights at the end of Sept 11. No complaints at all , the location was fantastic for sighseeing. The hotel is literally next door to the tube station Moscovsky Vorota ( M2 – blue line) and its only a few stops to the heart of the city ( Nevsky Prospect). Reception staff were helpful , the hotel rooms were well equipped and spacious. Each floor had a lobby area by the lifts and a great view of the Triumph Gate outside. The hotel seemed to be popular with both tourists and business people, though surprisingly the WIFI didn’t work in the rooms and we had trouble using it even in the designated areas.Breakfast was not included which was a shame, as it would be handy to set off every day after breakfast, though it was available at extra cost. There is a supermarket right next door which is handy for snacks and drinks too, it has a bakery and a deli section like any supermarket.
I would definitely suggest this if you want a good standard of accommodation and English speaking reception staff, and if you want to be close to town. It’s no more than a 15 min ride by Metro to town, and the cost in Russia for a ride on the metro is only 25 Roubles which is about 50pence regardless of distance.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of organised trip so did not choose the hotel ourselves but glad we stayed there.
Room was big and clean and quiet, hotel was nice and staff were helpful and friendly (also made an effort to speak English). The only niggle was that it took them almost a whole day to take a copy of our passports and give them back to us.
There is a metro station very close and it is quick and easy to get to the centre. There is also a supermarket next door which was really handy.

It is not in the city center so you have to take the Metro to reach the tourist places but it is not far only 2 or 3 stops and the Metro is next to the hotel , the hotel is big and very nice with good value for money better than paying extra in the city center

Room Tip: I think most of rooms are good because you can not open the window so no problem if you are on the s...

Stayed on a business trip for a few nights and overall the hotel is a bustling cosmopolitan place. The location is ideally placed for road and metro access. Its 4 stops on a single line to the centre of town with its shops and restaurants. Cannot be faulted on this at all.

This is a big hotel and the common areas are large and open with wide corridors throughout and plenty of light. Its certainly not oppresive despite its size.

It has bars and restaurants scattered around so if you don't want to explore the city its fine to lounge around and find a hidden corner.

The wifi signal is strong on the 1st and 2nd floor only, outside of these floors you do need to pay for access, this baffles me but it does force you to the areas where you may be tempted to buy refreshments rather than stay in your rooms......

Concierge is excellent, they will book transit to other areas for you as well as the airport with charges being billed and to be fair the prices are better than you could negotiate yourself and you know they are safe.

Only down side is the breakfast. It can be crowded and if travelling alone you may find you get up to get a fresh drink and come back to find sonmeone in your seat. Leave it empty at your peril, its a free for all!
