just off Nevsky Prospect. It is less than 10 minutes to the Hermitage & very near my favourite bookshop Dom Knigi. The staff were friendly & helpful. The cafe where we had breakfast on the ground floor was very good for dinner as well as the selection they served for breakfast. The rooms clean & not too cramped.

I am on a trip around the world. I am traveling the London to Singapore segment by train. I booked every hotel in every city based upon Trip Advisor. I usually chose highly rated budget hotels in each city.
Nevsky Grand Hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia is the seventh stop of my journey. The location is excellent, in downtown St Petersburg, a few blocks from canals, a major shopping center, and most of the major tourist attractions.
The room had a king size bed, bathroom and shower, and a small TV. Breakfast includes eggs, oatmeal, hot dogs, herring, salads, deli meats, cheese, cereals, fruits, yogurt, breads, juices, coffee and tea. I had no idea what a few things were, but I tried everything and it was all good. The staff are very polite and helpful.
I rode my folding bike over 100 km during the three days I stayed at here. Saint Petersburg does not have natural areas and parks on the scale of other major cities around the world. This is very much a city where people don’t stop moving until they are “indoors”. I suppose living less than 400 miles from the Arctic Circle has something to do with that.
Hotel Nevsky offers good value for people who visit St. Petersburg where they will be surrounded by museums, palaces and cigarette smoke.

This hotel is in a great location, within easy reach of all the sightseeing musts plus two minutes off the main shopping area of St.Petersburg.Rooms are clean and comfortable.Breakfast is served in their restaurant which is quite small and at times in the morning is extremely busy with people waiting for a table! This results in food going very quickly. Overall this is a good hotel for those on a budget and the location means there are some great eating places all within a few minutes walk.

This is a very good value hotel centrally located in St. Petersburg, near to museums, sights, restaurants and shopping. The standard rooms are small but clean, while the mattress was a little thin and uncomfortable for sleeping. Breakfast buffet included was exceptional, with good selection and service. Wireless Internet in my room was good. Staff was friendly and helpful with things such as storing my bag at checkout. Streetside rooms can be a little noisy in evenings and mornings, also thin walls contributed to hearing noise from other rooms on the hall. 100 yards (meters) to city bus and 300 yards (meters) to St. Petersburg Metro.

Room Tip: You might ask for a room away from the street to limit noise, especially on the lower floors.

Stayed in a big room on 7th floor with great view over the roof tops. Olga (receptionist) was very friendly and helpful. Had problems with TV not being tuned properly and no hot water in bathroom, but she sorted it out and got a handyman to fix it all, even though it was early evening. Location of hotel is great as all methods of transport very nearby on Nevsky Prospect. Some decent restaurants very nearby, opposite Church on the Spilled Blood (eg Meathead). Bus #27 goes from very near the hotel on Nevsky Prospect to the Mariinsky Theatre (coming back, get off at Kazan Cathedral on Nevsky Prospect). Breakfast is plentiful but not spectacular. There are a few steps from street entrance to the lift, but manageable and Reception is on the 2nd floor. The hotel is clean and, as I was travelling alone, I did not feel threatened at all when coming back at night. I had no problems staying at this hotel. It was good to have free access to a pc at the end of the corridor and also free access to a water cooler!

OK we made a mistake and chose a "3 star" hotel, should have paid the extra. Room was small, noisy, dingy and the aircon barely worked. No fridge in room, to buy a coke in the hotel restaurant was ridiculously expensive. Breakfast was ok.

This hotel was certainly adequate, and moderately priced. It's in a terrific location, on a street that I can't pronounce but that the tour guide told us is the Champs Elysee of St. Petersburg, and very close to Nevsky Prospect and all the shopping and restaurants. So it was convenient to all the tourist sights, like the Hermitage and St Isaac's and the Kazan Cathedral and the Church on the Spilled Blood. Our room was on the back side of the hotel, on the fourth floor, and we had the windows open a lot because of the heat. There was more to look at in that direction. We were quite comfortable there. We had a premium room; the regular rooms are pretty small. On the downside: be prepared for inadequate water, cold and hot, from the shower. I think the bed was just a box spring with a sheet on top of it, and the sheet was probably a full size so not really large enough, and the comforter had the same problem...not quite large enough. But it wasn't uncomfortable. Also, the hotel breakfast was adequate but not terrific.

Room Tip: The back side of the hotel is much quieter and much more interesting.
