“Overall, a very good place to stay in Saint Petersburg.”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

We were booked into this hotel as part of our Grand Tour of Russia package by East-West Tours. I was surprised when the van stopped at this hotel because we had been told we would be staying in a Courtyard by Marriott property. We were assured it was a four-star hotel and that it was more conveniently located than the Marriott, both of which turned out to be true. This ia a small, boutique hotel which has been totally updated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was always someone at the front desk who spoke English. The rooms were somewhat small, but adequate. The wi-fi signal was strong in our room. The hotel had laptops available in the lobby and fifth-floor lounge. The included breakfast was quite good. There was an omelet chef who cooked eggs to order daily. The restaurant staff were also friendly and helpful. The hotel was very conveniently located on the Fontanka River just two blocks from Nevsky Prospekt. My sole complaint has to do with housekeeping. I don't think the sheets on our bed were changed during our entire six-night stay. Also, the drinking glasses in the bathroom were not changed. To make things worse, the housekeepers placed my wife's hairbrush in one of the glasses. I was able to get clean glasses by calling the front desk; we hid them from the cleaning staff so we could control what was placed in them.

Dear Sir,

Thanks a lot for your choice and the hotel review with many positive moments and informative detailed description. I apologize for the housekeeping service failure and hope this did not bother you a lot. I have personally talked to the housekeeping chef and I hope the glass issue will no more be referred to in further hotel reviews. Thank you bringing this up to attention.

Thank you for good marks and pleasant feedback.

With kind regards,
Sergey Bulzov

We had great room at the front of the hotel on the top floor with view of river & a small park. It was large & a very inviting with dark hardwood floors & big windows & a big comfortable bed. WiFi was free & accessible in whole hotel including the rooms. Hotel staff was excellent in helping with visas & providing a lot of pre-arrival information. Driver who picked us up at train station & also took us to airport was excellent. We had a very good guide for city tour & to Peterhof & this driver was as informative as she was. Hotel is well -situated for alkin around city center area. Even though we give the hotel an excellent it is not quite a full 5*. Nearly all the front desk people were helpful & accommodating but a few were very brusque & one verged on hostile when asked questions. At one point we were close to an argument with him on something that he was right about but he was so curt & so unwilling to explain the foundation for what he was saying that it was only later that we figured out for ourselves what he really meant & why it was correct. Since everyone else was so professional, I am willing to chalk it up to a person issue with just that guy & not a management problem -- but management may want to have some periodic customer service refreshers to make such it is not a systemic problem. Breakfast had some stresses but again it was party because of the brusque staff. Only a few spoke English but that wasn't really the problem because some who did not speak English were very helpful & made an effort to communicate even though we did not speak their language. Other staff who did speak English appeared to make an effort not to communicate. The buffet was very basic & it was only on the second day & only because we asked that we learned that eggs-omelettes to order were available. Breakfast was included except for espresso which is inexcusably petty. One downside about the room is the bathroom set up. The bathroom was large & well-appointed but it has a glass wall on the side next to the bed. This seems to be trendy since we've seen it in other otherwise luxe properties, including a St. Regis, but it is incredibly tacky & by itself almost enough to knock the whole property down to a very good from excellent.

Room Tip: Deluxe roomis well worth extra cost. Our room at the front, on top floor, was really nice but our s...

Dear Giuliana,

Thank you for your thorough hotel review and detailed description of your stay.
I am pleased to see that you liked the majority of aspects about the hotel, staff, getting around the City and dining, with minor communication issues that were linked to particular persons. I assure you that we have regular service quality staff training. However, the person you referred to was working with us the last few days and I suppose this was the main reason for his lack of involvement. I hope this did not much influence you general impression of your stay in our City.

Thank you for your evaluation and positive references.

We will be glad to welcome you back!

Kind regards,

We spent four nights at the hotel during August. It is well managed and the staff are clearly concerned about the comfort and well being of their guests. The reception is very efficient and welcoming and the dining room offers food of a high quality. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we would have no hesitation about staying there again in the future.

The hotel is beautiful and we upgraded to a Deluxe Room which was a standard size (so presumably the Standard Rooms are tiny) although had an excellently spacious bathroom with massive shower. We arranged transfers through the hotel to and from the airport and this worked marvellously - our driver (Roman) couldn't have been more knowledgeable or helpful and is a great credit to the hotel - his English is impeccable and his knowledge is vast. He kindly stopped off to show us the Memorial Hall on the way back to the airport and we had our very own guided tour. The hotel is very clean and tidy and the beds were divinely comfy. The adjoining restaurant is very expensive however and breakfast is pretty basic. The reception staff were helpful but the male staff could have been a little less imperious and more friendly, like the female staff. All in all, this is a great hotel and good value for money. We had a beautiful view of the Fontanka and the hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Nevskiy Prospekt.

Room Tip: It was worth the extra 1500 roubles per night to upgrade to a Deluxe room.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for staying with us and your hotel review.
It is great that you enjoyed your stay and getting around. I am glad that you have mentioned a lot of positive moments, and that our transfer service functioned well. Warmest greetings back by Roman! We have an album in social networks dedicated to our drivers and cars, so you may write a couple of words to Roman directly there.

The restaurant has a good reputation in the City, and the prices may seem high, but our guests have 20% discount for the entire menu.

We will be glad to welcome you back to Rossi Boutique Hotel!

Kind regards,
Sergey Bulzov

The hotel picked my wife and I up and delivered to the airport which was important to us not speaking Russian. We upgrade to a larger room which was fantastic. The staff was very helpful in many ways. Our room was very clean and quiet. The location is great, being two blocks of the main tourist street. We found the St. Petersburg clean and a great place to visit. The historic sights are excellent.

This was a decent hotel in a good location. Our room was small and not particularly well appointed, but the bathroom had been nicely remodeled and was very spacious. Overall, the room was clean, but the bed spread was stained and tattered. Service at the hotel was very good, and food at the adjoining restaurant (breakfast was included) was acceptable. In fairness, I do not have a basis to compare with other hotels in SP, but definitely only average by European and American standards.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for staying with us and your hotel review.

Despite rather low ranking you gave us, thank you for mentioning the hotel location, cleanliness, restaurant, service and some design concepts among our strongest points.

Our housekeeping manager has got your message about the bed spread and I await her appropriate action towards inspecting and changing them in the entire hotel.

If you have much time, could you please contact me and inform what in particular you lacked in the room that would make you feel more comfortable? This would be highly appreciated.

I hope you have had a nice time visiting St. Petersburg.

With best regards,
Sergey Bulzov

I went to Rossi hotel for a business trip. Given the price/level of the hotel, the room was inadequate: rather small, no ironing board, uncomfortable desk, no armchair. Breakfast too was below average: juice box, canned fruit, frozen croissant,...
On the other hand, good notes are: excellent location, free international call to a number of choice.
To sum up: not your first choice for a business trip in St Petersburg!

Room Tip: Do not go for the smallest ones. Since it's an old building, those are are odd and small.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your comments regarding your June stay. We value your opinion and appreciate your time. Thank you for complimenting our location and “favourite number” free phone calls.

We do have ironing facilities, they are available upon request.

June is the hardest time of the year for us, because we operate almost all the time at 100% occupancy. Since our rooms differ in size and shape due to the building peculiarities, we try to find optimum solution for everyone. When we assign rooms we take into consideration occupancy type and are trying to give more spacious rooms to couples and triple accommodation, and we are doing it with equal respect to all our guests.

The prices are high throughout the entire City in summer, but we also have corporate contracts giving us mutual benefits. If your company is our partner, you may apply corporate rates making reservation.

I thank you again for being open and sharing your experience as well as providing us valuable information.

With kind regards,

Sergey Bulzov
