“Best in Novosibirsk”
Reviewed 4 June 2012

Check in was fast and efficient. Rooms are big enough, clean, new, and nice. Not very many western channels on TV - only news channels. Everything worked in the room and it was quiet.

Staff spoke enough English and front desk staff spoke very good English.

The gym had nice new precor equipment. One elliptical and 3 treadmills and one bike. Some weights, but not really enough to put together a weight workout. The gym is on ground level and requires a walk through the lobby - so not a very good location.

Breakfast is better than going hungry, but lacks variety.

Overall, it was OK. I'll go back.

I was very much impressed by the quality of the hotel, linens, location, etc... However, as a frequent business traveller, I have become pretty picky when it comes to wifi service in hotels. The DoubleTree makes you pay almost $20/day to use their wifi from your room. True you could come downstairs and use the lobby internet, but it is awkward to lay out your papers in the common lounge. Overall a good impression except for the penny pinching on the wifi, just provide a common password or include it in the room rate.

Room Tip: Some of the floors, the 5th in particular, seem to have a bit of a bleach/mold smell going.

Finally you can a real four-stars hotel in Novosibirsk. There were some three-stars ones there but nothing feeling like this.
Good location - just in a city center, five minutes walk from Lenin square and Red prospect.
Good room design.
Good English speaking staff.
And a warm cookie when you checking in!
To me, there are only two drawbacks - paid Internet (from March 2012) and quite expensive lobby bar.
But in fact you can go outside and in a hundred meters you can find a Guerra club - good and reasonably priced food, drinks, free Internet and a lot of fun inside.
And the hotel is not inexpensive - now you know why.

Room Tip: Take any - all are the same size and quality.

Nice building, materials, location, equipment, fitness, sauna, swimming pool; great staff; average breakfast, cosmetics. Don't go for jacuzzi — the water is full of chlorine, so you will get poisoned. And you can't open a window in a room. Just can't.

Definitely best hotel in Novosibirsk. I regret prices are quite high but rooms pay it back. Breakfast is really good.

A decent hotel in this strange city....
At least they can speak English here. Good breakafast.
The price is a bit high for this city.

Stayed there on business purpose, orginizing business meeting.

Conference rooms.
Conference rooms are good, well equiped and staff who I worked with on this meeting was good. Althogh - you should never forget you ARE IN RUSSIA! Food was ok too, but the way it is served is not very elegant..Waiters were very slow and sometimes agressive and unfriendly. But - not spoiled like in Moscow or frozen in Saint-Petersburg. In general - I was satisfied with my event.

Staff
Friendly, polite and helpful. But of course some imperfections like communication between reception, housekeeping and so on were very distinct. In general - very good.

Restaurant
Staff - friendly, polite, but extremely slow. Food is not tasty, you can rather enjoy just couple things like steak with corn and vegetables, and pike cakes with smash potatoes in traditional russian way. Other food is ok, but no taste...After you eat it, you don't feel aftertaste, like you just ate a sole. Desserts however are much better, tasty and good. Restaurant has pretty wide choice of teas (Milk Ulun is very good) and coffee they make is nice too. I write about coffee cause in many cities and places in Russia it's so bad!

Rooms
My room was nice, clean, cozy. With big bathroom. Even room numbers - nicer view to the theater, bigger bathroom space. Some rooms in 5th floor have horrible sound of ventilation system - so first night I couldn't sleep. Another big problem bedsheets and blanket cover - made of mixed fibres that has lots pellets which caused me poretty bad skin irritation.

SPA
Yes, yes, yes! Nice one. Tryed indian massage - very good. Tryed thai foot massage - very good. Rooms for treatments are nice, quite, clean, with relaxing music. Staff is very polite and good. Swimming pool is good, sauna is very hot and good - you should definately try it. Although hot whirlpoo area smells of mould.
