“Beautiful view but that's it”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

The hotel is undergoing renovation, but we didn't get a renovated room. Our. Old room was not suitable for living- horrible smell and stained carpet with furniture from the times when the hotel was built - 70s? (agree 100% with other reviewer). Over the weekend there is very loud music coming from the nightclub until 5am?!?!?! . The breakfast buffet was just awful, terrible food that included rice, french fries, mini vienna hot dogs, fish balls, raw veggies, room temperature juice and water and room temperature food. Staff were pleasant and spoke english, view was amazing but i would only give this hotel a 1 star and would never recommend.

Room Tip: don't stay here

The hotel is undergoing renovation, so I was 'lucky' to stay in old and new rooms. Renovated rooms are ok but nowhere near four stars. Old room was practically not suitable for leaving - horrible stench and stained carpet with furniture from the times when the hotel was built - 70s? Over the weekend there is very loud music coming from the nightclub. Staff doesn't speak English.

We stayed here as part of a package for the Winter Olympics. This hotel was not ready for this. The foyer was still being completed and only some floors were renovated. The location of the hotel is on the Black Sea. Our room was on the 2nd floor which was one of the renovated floors. Rooms faced the front of the hotel, the air conditioning was not completed and at times the room was stuffy we would have to open the balcony door to get some air in, bathroom toilet seat moved every time you sat on it. Heated towel rack didn't work. Staff spoke very little English so it was very hard to communicate with them and example is our first night we had dinner in the American Diner we asked if we could charge it back to our room they said yes and then we got a split bill. We asked for a plug for our sink it never came a water was not replenished everyday we would have to ask. The staff tried their best but I think they need some that could speak English well to help all English and non English speaking guest
In my opinion things were rushed to get this hotel ready and it was below par for the amount of money we paid.

Just a quick note. If you plan to stay at this hotel be aware that it is undergoing a major remodel. Also, the near by disco establishments play loud music ALL night long. The music stops around 5-6 am. As usual, you need to curb your expectations based on the usual star rating. It has a Russian 4 star rating, but I would rate it a 21/2 stars just because of the hard work by the multi-lingual reception desk. Tranportation to and from the hotel is shaky at best. The room safes are not mounted to anything so you can just walk out of the room with it.

Room Tip: Money exchange on site with good rates. Laundry service is very good. Close to promenade and good re...

My wife and I stayed at the Zhemchuzina during the Olympics. As with most everything else in Sochi, they're finishing up the remodeling. If you're looking for American accommodations then the Zhemchuzina is close. If you're looking for European style accommodations then this place has it nailed.

Pros: good location for the seaport, nice pool facilities, nicely remodeled rooms. The beds were comfortable and bathroom appointed well.

Cons: if you have a room on the north side go for the higher floors. The lower floors get traffic noise from the nearby street.

Such a big and great hotel! This place is exactly how I prefer it. It has many perfect restaurants and healthy food. I saw Russian side of Black sea-its very interesting! Russian service and culture-you must have to feel it. Quiet, nice reseptionists and ambiance. The garden near the hotel was also a treat. Nice location in the center of the SOCHI…. great room well decorated…. Just come and enjoy it.... for business or pleasure.
