We saw an open air Chinese opera there on Sunday, lots of locals strolling and playing hackeysack. Very humid but green and pleasant, with big rainforest fig trees.

Modern old style Chinese buildings and an artificial lake but you'll hardly notice while you enjoy a nice sunny day on the park. We hired a boat, 100rmb deposit and they give you back your change depending on how long you spend cruising the lake. There are also group tour boats availible to book but we wanted to drive ourselves. Public toilets easy to find and easy to find from the metro station. Visit near Chinese New Year the decorations are tacky and amazing.

Come sit on a bench or have a meal on a boat in this nice park. People come here to escape from the trafic (that will still be clearly hearable though). Or to play some badmington obviously.

To fully experience Liwan lake you need to hire a boat for a cruise of the lake and adjoining Lychee Bay park. Alternatively, you can hire a water tricycle and pedal yourself. The park itself is fairly large (good for a stroll) and has plenty of shaded areas where you can sit down to relax and admire the views. If you are lucky, you may even get to listen to some elderly (and not so elderly) people practising singing Chinese Opera on their Karaoke machines.
