“Colorful Canton Tower at night.”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

I visited Canton Tower during my buisiness trip in Guangzhou. It's famous and easy to get there. I got there almost at 6 pm and enjoy the sunset very much, the tower start to put colorful lights on when its getting dark. The view seems fabulous with Zhujiang River and Canton Tower. You will have to pay extra money if you want to take a bird-view of the Guangzhou city, but I don't think it worth the money. Anyway, it's a good place to go when you in Gunagzhou.

“Canton Tower overcast day”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Unfortunately the day I travelled up to the skywalk and walked around the top it was very misty. Could not see anything once lift got beyond the 30th floor. Walked around the top part outside and watched some people get in cable car travelling down the outside face first. Thrilling to watch and laughed at the screams. Quite safe and did get a view from this spot just above the 107th floor. Would be incredible on a clear day and did get some great shots of the tower at night.

“Nice but Overpriced”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Canton Tower is a tower located on the southern bank of the Zhujiang river. You can get there using Line 3 of the metro or the APM line. It looks quite nice both from the outside and the inside.

Since the tower is relatively isolated, it indeed lets you see all of Guangzhou. On a good day you will be able to see the entire city. I don't know if there's a better observatory in Guangzhou.

The problem is the pricing scheme. The cheapest ticket is 150 yuan (just to see the city), which is as expensive or more than the most expensive observatories in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, etc. However, the skyline of Guangzhou is much less interesting than those other cities. It's growing and maybe in 10 years or so it will be amazing, but in 2013 it was just underwhelming. The pricing for an observatory should reflect not only the experience in the building itself, but also what you can see on the outside.

Incidentally some great views on Guangzhou can be seen from the museum in the Yuexiu Park, which is just 10 yuan.

“Brains meet Beauty”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Visited Guangzhou during November 2013. Having a room with view of Canton Tower, I have spent evenings doing nothing and just staring at this beautiful tower under different shades of lights. Little overcharged for the amenities and security of Airport standards, Well maintained.

I chose to go on sky drop (vertical free fall). There are two of them, one while u take a sit and other is quite unorthodox (my favorite). At 485 meters of height this is best thing, one mustn't miss. There is also bubble tram, which is quite slow and gives an amazing view of the city.

This is spot you dont want to miss on your trip to Guangzhou.

“Nice tower, but ridiculously overcharged.”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

The design of this tower is elegant and aesthetic (designed by a dutch!!) but aside from this, there's not many reasons to spend 150 to 450 yuan to go up to the tower. Cross the river, head to a building called IFC and spend your money on the bar on the top floor. You will pay less, have a better service, and the same ariel view of Guangzhou.
