Huge resort complex, targeted obviously for families on holidays so if you're traveling on business which I was, you will not find peace and quiet after a full day of work. Breakfast was hectic, screaming parents, running kids not just in restaurants but also along the halls and at night. The staff was great, helpful, spoke English and efficient. The complex was clean, the rooms huge, had complimentary water and fruits daily.

Chimelong always has its charm. This being our 2nd visit and we still loved every bit of it. Rooms are reasonably large and very well maintained. Frequent shuttle services to all possible points of entry to Guangzhou is very useful. Staff in general very friendly and willing to help. Swimming pool is huge and clean. Highlight of stay would be nearby theme parks. We were pleasantly surprised with priority given to hotel guests in a few of the water park rides. Minimart has drinking water and other sundry items for daily consumption
Only one disappointment was with finding veg food. A single option in the room service menu, very expensive and poor quality.

The hotel tries to make an impression that its a 4star to 5star hotel. We stayed in the old wing and the old wing needs a makeover. It is still ok, nice bed and beddings. carpet needs replacment. We specified non-smoking rooms and yet our group was given 8 rooms at the smoking floors. (you will know since there is an ashtray in bathroom and bed side. We complained and raised voices. they gave us the non smoking rooms (one floor down). They need to hire english speaking (speaks well) on the key areas, check in/concierge. Breakfast is ok, please serve the water in a container and not in a faucet. i know its filtered but its like drinking from the tap.
On a plus side, left a cheap phone and some shirts on the room and was quickly sent to my next destination. Restaurants inside are expensive and the food tastes bland. To get out of the hotel, you need to hire a taxi and go outside for dinner. Trust me, its worth it.
Maybe try getting rooms on the new wing so it would be better.
The compressor of the mini bar ref kept on vibrating. I was tempted to pull out the socket. I just turned the dial to off.

Room Tip: get the new wing

We booked to stay at the Chimelong Resort for 3 nights based on the appeal of all the on-site facilities (Safari Park, Circus, Theme Park). The stay was to be our final 3 nights of our honeymoon. Prior to leaving the UK we received a call from the booking agent that the Big Show had been cancelled because of work being carried out at the arena. After asking more questions it turned out that the Big Show was the Circus/Cirque du Soleil, this was the first disappointment. when we arrived at the hotel we were met at reception by a lady who spoke and had limited english, making it difficult to finalise the check-in process. Finally we were given our room number and advised that we were to proceed to Block 5, on our way there we found that there were no proper ramps to take your luggage down and making it difficult to get down the steps without risk of falling. We get to our room and despite booking a double room we were given a twin room. After a trip back to reception to complain, we are given a room in Block 6, off we go again and find a large room with a spacious bathroom and balcony, although no furniture to make use of the balcony. Tried the on-site Butterfly restaurant, which was poor to say the least, food was flavourless and very greasy. The Theme park was very odd where the rides seem to operate at certain times and you never knew if the rides were operating or not. We also found that one of the rides was closed due to repairs being carried out. The safari park was a success and well worth spending a day walking round, seeing some amazing animals close up. The one disappointment was the White Tiger Show, where the animals didn't want to perform and the trainers were a little heavy handed in trying to make the animals perform for the crowd. If you didn't want to visit any of the parks and just relax by the pool, that was also closed during our stay. No mention of this was made prior to or on arrival at the hotel which was very disappointing to say the least. All in All this was a disappointing way to end our honeymoon and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here.

This was our second visit to this hotel and amusement center. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The atmosphere is great as are the rooms, staff, scenery, food and amenities. It is somewhat expensive but I feel it is worth the cost. If there is a 6 star hotel, then this has my vote.

Room Tip: If you are a Westerner, ask for soft bed.

We bought a season pass to Chimelong, and have stayed at the resort twice now. IT is a very nice hotel. Very clean, very spacious, luxurious and it has all the amenities. It is very convenient for the amusement park and water park, and hotel guests get a free express pass for those parks as well. The free shuttle to the safari park is nice too.
It can be a bit of a maze though, and is definitely NOT for the budget minded. Anywhere else on the number 3 metro line would also work for access to the park if you would rather not pay so much.
There's a free shuttle from the train station, but it can fill up fast, so reserve a spot on it and don't walk away once you're waiting for it. If you're comfortable with the metro in GZ, that might even be better. Check in is a bit of a hassle. Takes a long time to get in, but once you're done, it's all relaxation from there.
The breakfast buffet is huge and incredible, but get there early as the lines later can be horrendous. It is also an incredibly expensive breakfast, which most may not notice if it gets wrapped in your room rate.

We booked for a 2D/1N package which includes breakfast & themepark access or international circus tickets for 2 person. The Hunter Room were spacious and there was an attached balcony (though not much of a view).
Breakfast was served in the White Tiger Restaurant where one can view white tiger roaming and pink flamingos.
