I did stay here for one night! Hardly anyone there who could speak English and it really freaked me out! This hotel is in the centre of the town and on a very busy area! You basically on the verge of a busy route and very noisy and dusty location! I personally would not stay here again!!

Room is spacious with above average room amenities. reasonable room rate for this size of hotel. Hotel situated right in the central of IT malls, restaurants are almost every corner. Depending on the room category, some without window view. Receptions have basic common of English.

Room Tip: Pay extra to get a room with balcony so can have a nice view of the city

We stayed for 3 nights at the President Hotel. We selected it because it was very close to SCNU (where a loved one is temporarily residing), had a compelling price point ($70 USD per night) and based on positive TripAdvisor reviews. Pros: a stone’s throw from Gangding metro stop, which quickly gets you anywhere in Guangzhou; walking distance to the university if you want to hoof it; security to get up elevator floors; fast food options next to the hotel; comfortable beds; and Building B room 1107 is super quiet. Cons: lobby is always full; a few sketchy-looking couples possibly trying to rent rooms by the hour; front desk took our photos when we checked in; and English is not readily spoken at the front desk. This hotel was probably high end at some point, but it looks a bit “tired” now. As long as you are independent and don’t need a bunch of hand-holding, it is a fine place to stay for Americans. Definitely request a room in Building B, not A.

There’s also a decent Pizza Hut nearby if you want a more western meal at an affordable price.

I stayed at one of the windowless room that everyone here is telling me to avoid. Its alright. No smell, comfortable bed, decent workstation to put my laptop on, good hot showers, everything needed in the toilet and the room is provided. There's even a fire retardant machine in the room should anything happen.

Wifi connection is very good.

Didnt try the breakfast as there are many choices outside the hotel; from Macdonalds, KFC, to foodcourt, starbucks, restaurants, street food, etc. Plenty of 7-eleven lookalikes here too to get your other necessities.

Service Staff was friendly, although it does help if you have a translator or speak mandarin.

Gangding Metro Station is just at the next block. Only afew steps away from the entrance.

The only drawback is, locals smoke everywhere in the hotel even though there are no smoking signs. Seems like a culture here and not just this hotel's problem so I dont think we can fault them. Because they smoke inside every other building too.

For the price, it was more than worth it. Will be back again.

This hotel has so much potential. It lacks maintaince. The carpet smells.. the exhaust for the bathrooms don't work..and all you can smell in the hotel is strong smoke. if your here and expecting a good breakfast buffet do not come here. I mean the breakfast buffet is horrible. The eggs get re boiled and are black inside. The majority of the time there out of butter and milk and when you ask them they say there is no more. The Orange juice is fully diluted with no taste. And the tea and coffee is icy cold. And the food is mainly chinese no variety for westerners. The room service.ladies r very friendly and nice.
