“Nice hotel - Let down in some areas”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2014

Room was very specious and clean. There was good wifi and fast connection available. Room service likes to have a rummage though your belongings so I would recommend locking all your things back in your suitcase with a padlock.

The rooftop dining had tasty options and breakfast was excellent with a lot of choices. The room service food was dreadful to the point I could not eat it, it was western food that I was selecting from the menu so this may have been the issue.

The hotel bar is very old and looks like something out of an old 70's/80's movie. We tried to have a business conversation in the bar then soon realised that the bar was filled with ladies selling themselves and services which was slightly inappropriate for a Hotel bar and it appears that the Hotel was turning a blind eye to these activities. I stayed at the Hotel due to proximity to my clients offices. Next time I will stay in the center of Guangzhou and endure a longer taxi journey. It will be worth it just to have a quiet pint in a hotel bar at the end of the day without getting propositioned to purchase services from a lady.

This Hotel looks good on the website but in reality the rooms are very dated. The reception staff and concierge speak good English and are very helpful The restaurant on the 28th Floor offers an extensive range of breakfast offerings but most is for Chinese, not a lot of choice for Westerners.
The rooms are on the small size. The double glazed windows keep most of the sound out but the film on them is breaking up. The rooms we had smelt of stale cigarette smoke, the curtains were faded and the carpets in some rooms stained. The bed was hard as a rock - the floor would have been softer. We had around 14 rooms and none were up to the standard that we expected. Only good thing is it's close to the industrial areas. Next time I will insist on staying in the city and commute the one hour.
There is nothing to after hours in the area.

This is an absolutely nasty hotel . I really cannot say anything good about it except the wireless worked fairly well and the shower had really hot water. The hot water was important to try to wash all the funk off myself after sleeping in the room. The pictures are very misleading. This IS NOT a nice business hotel.

My "nonsmoking" room smelled like it used to be a smoking room that never got cleaned. The entire floor (13th) including my room smelled of mildew and mold. The carpet in my room was stained and just downright nasty. It was a good thing they provided slippers to wear because the thought of bare feet on that carpet is frightful. The bed was hard and lumpy. The pillows were old and smelled of mildew. The fabric headboard was also stained and gross. I was going to ask for a different room, but after talking to the others traveling with me they were all equally nasty. I ended up checking out one day early and moving to a different hotel because I just could not take another night in this horrific dirty place.

On my first night there, I was brought a welcome "fruit basket" with various fruit including some cherry tomatoes. This was confusing but really par for the course at this hotel.

The breakfast offerings were really not great if you don't want to carb load. On my first morning, I attempted to have an omelet. The filling options were not appetizing and included canned mushrooms. When I asked for a cheese omelet I was told they "do not serve cheese at breakfast". The coffee had the consistency of motor oil. As one contributor noted, there is a McDonald's down the street. If you choose to stay here and need coffee in the mornings, I recommend going there as I did every morning after the first.

The gym doesn't open until 7 AM. It appeared to have an assortment of equipment, but the opening time didn't lead itself to allow anyone to actually use it in the mornings before work.

My summation of this hotel is that it was probably a decent hotel when it was built. It is now a tired, moldy, and just downright awful place.

This was the second time I stayed at the hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. However there is hardly any place to store clothes. The bathrooms are large, clean and well maintained.
The buffet breakfast is the same monotonous menu with almost no option for vegetarians. However they serve hot food for breakfast.
The reception staff are pretty indifferent although one of the staff ( of Indian origin) was very helpful.

Room Tip: Suites have a separate Day room which is quite comfortable

Impressive building and facilities; staff always very helpful; rooms generally large, clean and well equipped. Standard mattresses are hard – the hotel claims it offers a choice of mattress but they rarely have a softer mattress available. The Western Restaurant offers a good buffet breakfast and options to have hot food cooked whilst you wait, e.g. omelette. In the evening, there is a choice of buffet or a-la-carte menu. Alternatively, there’s a McDonalds within walking distance! The bar on floor 5 features a full size snooker table and live entertainment most/all nights, which starts around 9pm. I haven’t explored all of the leisure facilities, e.g. gym, spa, etc. but I can recommend the foot massage which is enjoyable and relaxing. If you’re travelling from Hong Kong, the hotel is approximately 2 hours’ drive from Shenzhen Bay Port or 45 minutes from Guangzhou East train station. I have stayed here a number of times, typcially 5 - 10 days at a time, and will be happy to return in future.

Good Hotel and good value for money. Staff very helpful and the service is good . Hotel very suitable foe business in area. Service and cleanliness of rooms is good and comfortable.
The buffet dinner is monotones after the first night . Rooms nice size and I did not have noise from street but was able to have a very good sleep.

While not spectacular this hotel was suitable for a single night while in Guangzhou on busines.
I was "upgraded" to a large room with separate kitchenette, lounge, and bedroom.
The room was clean and comfortable however the dining options at the hotel were a little limited and disapointing.

Room Tip: check out any alternative to the buffet.
