Stayed For 3 Nights At the Guangzhou Grand International Hotel while visiting the Canton Fair. The location of the hotel is great as well as the rooms are full of comfort. A bit far from the train station as you need to walk for like 10 or mins if you plan to use the metro. Rooms are clean and spacious as well as the breakfast menu is big enough for your tummy. Had booked my hotel via Snapadeal on Facebook. Would surely come back to stay.

Room Tip: 10 or so mins walk from the metro if you plan to travel by metro

Grand International is a great hotel in Guangzhou and absolute value for money. Very centrally located near the Guangzhou East train station, with lot of restaurants and shopping malls in nearby vicinity. Rooms are very nice and neatly done. Free upgrade to next category of room usually done. Breakfast spread is super. Staff and hospitality is very nice.

In a city of 20 million people and a few or lets say all the big hotel chains, the Grand International Hotel provides an excellent option for the budget orientated traveler who is still seeking comforts. The location is great, in the heart of the city with easy access to all the main attractions and that there is plenty of. As a first time visitor to Guangzhou I was amazed at the international feel this city has and the galore of impressive Chinese dining venues around. I need to return to explore more.........but back to the hotel. Rooms are well planned out, with plenty of good thought, nice big bed, smallish bathrooms, but all with shower and bath, big TV and a choice of 48 TV stations.....with about 90% in the local lingo! The fitness center was a real pleasure to work out in. Staff greet you with a towel and are happy to show you around......all dressed up in smart tracksuits to inspire you..........the room has plenty of tools to play with and TV's to keep you informed if that is your choice........located outside is the 25 meter lap pool, that I sadly could not use as they were giving it the annual clean up....but really nice to see a down town hotel with a proper pool!
Dining wise the breakfast was a large buffet with a main focus on Asian style items, but well blended in with various fruits, cereals, breads and juices.......service was direct, but fine! Coffee service was good.......away from the buffet is other dining options which includes a Chinese options and then the very nice Tea Room, where local business people sat late a night chatting over tea........not sure if it was all tea, but the color looked like tea!! The lobby lounge is located well yes in the lobby.......almost pays tribute to one of Melbourne's icon furniture designers, Franco Cozzo.....with plush furniture and a small bar....can't say I saw anyone there, but hey maybe that was just down to our schedule......overall service was good, friendly......we were a 7 people traveling together and a local agent had booked the room. On one occasion a DND was left on the door and the hotel was concerned as it been DND all day that they called our point of contact to inquire if our fellow traveler was okay...nice touch! Oh well as I said I must return to this amazing city that has so much to offer that three nights was not enough....

This is a very good and excellent value hotel. The room was not huge, but a good enough size and was well equipped. The bathroom was also very nice. I didnt go to breakfast so cant comment on that, but the service during check in and out was also very good. The staff spoke brilliant English (which is rare in Chinese hotels) and were extremely friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a hotel in this part of town, then I recommend staying here.

The most pleasing thing of the hotel was they offered me a suite in place of my deluxe room booking. It included the executive lounge and unlimited consumption in the mini-bar. Being an old hotel the rooms are not so posh, but were well kept and the overall amenities were quite good. The staff was pleasing and courteous. Overall it was a great deal. Thanks Grand International.

Ok, So its canton fair... This means alot of visitors for Guangzhou.... Let me add alot of (mostly) overseas english speaking visitors.... But still a real struggle to order food in the restaurant, get information from the concierge or the operator on the phone...

Eg, i needed to print something out, noone could understand what i needed, i needed to know what time the next bus was to the fair, again noone could help, i wanted to know what meat was on the buffet, again noone could help me... It was a real disappointment as the hotel has enormous potential other then the Manager"s cutthroat policies towards its guests, i have particularly encountered this earlier when i was 15 minutes later then supposed to check out and he insisted on charging me for the extra day!!!! Not saying i was not at fault, i was caught up in some traffic and so got back later and then there was a huge line of guests waiting to get on the elevator.... Still some humility towards guests goes a long way and ensures their return...

Food was soso, location good, shopping around, not far from fair, buses in the morning going and in the evening coming back... They even have an attendant on each floor but not sure what they are supposed to be doing.... Also found it interesting they reduced the exchange rate the day the fair started, guess its their time to charge....

We stayed here for one night and paid for the price of a motel room but had a 5-stat hotel room. The checkin was fast. The staff were friendly. The onsite chinese restaurant offered good food. The foot spa on the 6th floor was also nice and reasonably priced. All in all, it is a nice hotel and I will definitely come back again.
