“Don't know why i don't like this hotel”

During my 8 days trip. First two days i stayed at Liuhua Hotel. Then due to reservation isses i had to change the hotel. I booked this. Compared to my previous hotel, it was nothing. I charged 20% more rent then the previous one and i got 80% less services than it. I didn't feel good here. This is kind of an ordinary hotel. Nothing new in it.

We stayed in the hotel, as transit passengers, thanks to the good hospitality of China Southern Airlines. The rooms were good, well furnished, and comfortable. The desk staff, did not appear too friendly, possibly because of the language problem. They could not properly converse in English, but managed, just barely to allot us rooms and direct us to them. We checked in around 0915 hrs and, at the desk, were told that "breakfast starts at 1030 hrs", in the restaurant on the second floor. After an 8-10 hr flight from Los Angeles, we thought we would first take a shower, change and then go for breakfast. We appeared in the restaurant around 1015 hours. They had a very elaborate spread. We were just looking around to decide on what we were going to have. Suddenly, we found that the staff were clearing the breakfast spread. We were surprised and tried to inquire what was happening. We were told that breakfast was to close at 1030 hrs -- that's why they were clearing out.
I then realized what had happened! At the desk, when we checked in, instead of telling us that breakfast was open till 1030 hrs, they told us that it would start at 1030.
Later, in a shop in the hotel, where we were looking around if we could buy something, we were told that they would only accept local currency, and that they had no foreign exchange facilities at the hotel.

Room Tip: Have nothing to offer on on this score.

We spent five days at this "oasis" mid this month.
Comfortable spacious rooms with all requisite amenities.
The warmth and the helpful nature of the staff more than made up for the language difficulties we faced in the city.
The staffs' welcome began from the moment one alighted and even in the wee hours of the the morning there was a smiling manager accompanied by maintenance staff to set right a minor malfunction.
We would set out for our daily business, after a sumptuous breakfast, armed with written notes for the cab drivers and directions that we needed.
It was easier to change money at the hotel - where it would under five minutes - same rate as the banks - where the exercise would take forever and the cumbersome red tape was frustrating.
Unfortunately could not avail the spa, gym, and pool facilities due to paucity of time.,
Would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to friends, relatives and Trip Advisor fans!

This is a luxury hotel with all basic amenities expected of one. Not very far from the airport. Staff is friendly and courteous. Language is a barrier. The lobby is huge and well appointed. Check in and check out was quick although the reception staff is not very good with english. Overall good experience.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the road

Good sized rooms, quiet and comfortable. If staying for Canton Fair you can do fair registration in foyer and for 3-4 hours each morning a free bus leaves about every 30min . Across the road is a shopping center and supermarket in case you need those items not usually found in minibars. And in the side street was a Chemist shop if needed. I needed some cold medicine and they had a English - Chinese chart to ensure you got the correct product. Large breakfast bar had a great range for all tastes.

Sadly, the smallest insignificant little issue gets blown out of proportion due to narrow minded and arrogant staff. The overall stay at the hotel was pleasant, the room was spacious and buffet breakfast good on day one but repeating the same breakfast everyday gets kind of boring.

The added bonus of laying on busses to and from the Canton fair made for an easy and hassle free commute, however bus times change without notification so do take care and plan extra time in your journey.

Problem came when wanting to pay the bill in cash. USD is widely accepted, however the notes need to be in mint condition only else they will refuse to accept the currency! I had one hundred dollar bill with slightly jagged edges which the hotel refused to take. Even though both the serial numbers were clearly visible and the fact that it was a relatively new bill issued by the BANK seemed not to be deemed as suitable payment. Standing at the reception feeling like a criminal because my money is not acceptable was petty to say the least. The attitude of the staff did very little to the situation simply saying “we not take this one”. After a useless argument with the front desk staff and asking for the manager, yet another clerk shows up with the same cocky attitude. Refusing to speak to him finally the duty manager arrives, Louise Xu. Seemingly undisturbed by the fact that a crowd has now started to form around us mainly made up of more hotel staff. Still no explanation given as to why the bill was refused and simply demanding to give them another one or another form of payment. No apologies, no clarification simply “I could not care less” attitude was all I received in spite the fact that my company uses this hotel twice a year for 6 people or more at a time was also not encouragement to resolve the issue. Realizing I was going to miss my flight I simply gave up and paid with other bills and then receiving change in bills in much worse condition than the one I had presented simply infuriated me! I will make sure my company never uses this hotel again!!

Room Tip: Old hotel, be sure to ask for non smoking rooms and check bed sheets have been changed before you ac...

Stayed two nights for the Canton Trade Fair. Decent well maintained rooms. Comfortable bed, good shower. Breakfast was OK although had to wait for a table. Service on check in and check out quick and efficient. Hotel runs a courtesy shuttle bus to the fair site. Could do with providing more drinking water in the rooms.
