Worth staying if do not mind the construction of subway in front of hotel. Good location,Subway & shopping complexes within walking distance. A safe in room for keeping valuable. Free wire internet in room, and wi fi at lobby only. Friendly and courteous staff. Can board airport shuttle opp hotel. Clean room, but hard bed.

Room Tip: Room facing the Pearl River is better.

The Guangzhou Hotel is in a fantastic location within two minutes walk to haizhu square metro station and Mc Donald's It is also right in the middle of a great shopping area. Be sure to check out the night markets in nearby streets. The only drawback at this hotel was breakfast. We decided to try it out. We paid about $10 AUD only to find a very limited buffet. I asked three staff if one dish was vegetarian to which the all replied that it was. After consuming half of my serve I found meat in it! We also noticed other diners eating fruit so we went to look for it. Obviously we were too late because the fruit that was on offer at that stage was baby tomatoes. Not exactly my number one choice for breakfast

As business travellers we were disappointed to discover that the Guangzhou hotel did not have wifi in the rooms, essential ingredient in this manufacturing capital of the world. In the lobby, standing room only, we were able to access our emails, but this was not really acceptable as it was implied we were in the way. The hotel itself is well located near the wholesale shoe market and the jewellery wholesale building just around the corner. Decor is in desperate need of updating, shower heads and taps were well past their use by dates. Staff spoke reasonable English which is a bonus in China. The service in the room was a bit of a let down as each day we noticed the floor had not been swept. Whilst the location was convenient for a few days, we would not bother staying here again.

The hotel is situated right off the Haizhu Square Station which is very convenient for traveling around the city (depending on your destination). The hotel is unfortunately somewhat run down for American standards.

The rooms are nice looking though could use some updating. The room service is excellent and the rooms are extremely clean with no signs of bugs or molding. The strongest concern I had was with a strange smell on the floor of our room. It did not go into the room, but the floor smelled very odd.

Besides the things I mentioned, there is excellent dim sum on the top level of the hotel, and the beds are pretty soft for Chinese standards. Again, it is in an excellent location and great for if you're doing business around the markets.

Room Tip: Try level 10. I saw some guy walk into the elevator from this floor and it looked very nice compared...

We were booked in this hotel for a convention. We were in a group so everything was arranged including the hotel booking. The hotel is near all the famous shopping areas in downtown Guangzhou. For some people this might be a plus... but NO! Its not the case. This hotel is really old. Its not well maintained, hard beds, old carpet, torn towels and dirty! I didnt even try to take photos coz its really bad! Some floors are renovated but with a higher cost and in a way better to stay in another hotel. The breakfast buffet is BAD! The staff are not good in English. They almost lost the passport of our companion upon check in! Guangzhou is a big city and there are other better and new hotels.
