“Great rooms and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2013

Stayed here for 5 days for the Canton Fair. Free shuttle bus to and from fair excellent service. Stayed in room 1818 in the new tower, rooms large, modern, with opening windows which I appreciated. This room was at the back of the building, looking over the park area, so no road noise. I originally had a slightly larger room on the main side, but the road noise a bit much for me. There was absolutely no smell of smoke in these rooms, which you often get in the so called non smoking rooms in China. Air conditioning was quiet and comfortable. Beds were firm, but fine. Great area, as plenty of shopping and choices for food within easy walking distance. Japanese a few doors down excellent. There are about 5 McDonalds stores within 200 metres of the hotel which is a bit of a worry, but great if you're into Maccas! Starbucks attached to hotel had great wraps and coffee...go black unless you're into the China milk. Breakfast good, with a variety. Gym room good too, and will open up early for you if requested. There is always a staff member on that can speak English, Yvonne and Michael in particular were fantastic. This hotel is a bit away from airport (about 220 yuan for that trip as I got there after the last bus left at 12.30am), and costs about 150 yuan to Guanzhou East railway station. I would definitely recommend the Panyu, and will stay there again when I go back for the fair in October.

Room Tip: Stay in the new tower if you want the modern non smoking rooms. Bit pricey, but worth it.

When dealing with China outside of the main tourist path, the hotels can be hit or miss. The rooms at the hotel are large and generally clean but nothing special. One of the irritating items is that no extra roll of toilet paper is provided so if you are like me and at 2 am you are in the restroom you will be frustrated when you pull the last sheet off of the roll and realize there is no other roll in the room.

staying at this place was lot of fun.
the hotel is made beautifully with nice flowing water bodies around and the new wing is recently done up.rooms are big and spacious and the feel is warm. located between a lot of shopping it was easy to grab a thing or two despite putting up a long work day.had a decent spread for vegetarians as well as far as food is concerned.language was a bit of trouble but thats everywhere in china i guess.

Room Tip: tell them to give a room on the pool side.gives a nice view of the city as well.

Stayed at this hotel for a few days to attend the Canton Fair. Upon arrival, the staff were very efficient and welcoming. There was definitely a "wow" factor when entering the room for the first time. Very spacious and well appointed. Good wifi connection and a desk with scissors, stapler etc was another good and handy service. A large bowl of fresh fruit (bananas and apples) were on offer as well. The bathroom was also very clean, spacious and modern. The breakfast in the mornings was a little disappointing with regard to eating area itself (a little tired and worn out) and what was on offer. Great bus service to the fair itself. A good 10 minute walk to the Shiqiao metro station.

Room Tip: For a nice meal, try the small Japanese restaurant within walking distance of the hotel (out to the...

Large hotel with nice garden-lush. Comfortable room but very hard beds. Decent breakfast. Price is reasonable.
Downtow and many restaurants around.
Reception did not speak English well, but fast service at reception.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2012

Stayed at this location mid September 2012 as part of a group of 80 people. Check in was a real breeze and I stayed in room 1705 in the new tower. I remember staying at this property approximately 8 years ago and don't remember the new tower at all. The lobby looks similar, but that's about all that I could remember. The room here was definitely A++. The washroom was very large, with a large roman bathtub, a seperate toilet and seperate shower, as well as a LCD TV on the other side of the washroom.

The bathroom sink was a bit strange at first as I didn't know how to unplug the sink. After searching high and low for a switch to unplug it, I pushed down on the sink plug and it released and now water was able to drain down the sink.

Complimentary two bottles of water was provided along with a small refrigerator, hot water kettle, two pairs of plush slippers and I was greeted with a plate of fruit.

The room had a very large LCD TV which also allowed for HDMI inputs for your own video games, or notebook computer hook up.

The desk that was provided was also very well thought out with both in room WIFI and a hardwire connection available. Inside the drawer of the desk were tape, pencil, ruler, eraser, tape, stapler, staple remover. Very handy for those doing some last minute business proposal report work.

Outside the hotel to the immediate right is a McDonalds, across the street is a huge shopping mall with tons of shopping available for both the young and the old. The hotel is close to but not directly next to the Guangzhou Metro. The closest station is Shiqiao and about a 10 minute walk away. The area is quite crowded on the weekends with lots of youngsters shopping and having a good time.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room in the new tower!
