As other reviewers did, we booked this hotel because it was close to Canton Fair. We had to leave after the first night due to the overall disrepair of the hotel. Our room was small, dark and dirty. There were damp patches over the walls, the bathroom had mould in all the grout lines and the shower would not drain so we were left standing in backed up dirty water. The room did not have a fridge but did have an over supply of dark mis-matched furniture. The breakfast buffet was not good however the evening meal in the same restaurant was superb. Cigarette smoke permeated throughout the whole hotel. This hotel was advertised as a 4 star but really closer to 2. Would I recommend - Never!

We stayed here after being booked into a terrible hotel and move out of that hotel the next day as it falsely advertised what it was. We will always stay at Rundu Hotel whilst in Guangzhou even though it was a few dollars more. The hotel has a bar/restaurant, and two other restaurants to choose from, massage rooms and more. The customer service is way beyond one's expectations to the point that they will drop everything to help you out. They had student translators the hotel employed to over the language issues when ordering meals, drinks, booking taxis, trains etc. The staff's constant smiles and positive attitudes are an admiration and I won't ever forget them. They were very attentive and if you wanted something different with a drink or a meal, nothing was an issue for them. Very obliging. I had one man I called Mr Smiley and all of the staff continously smiled and made you feel welcome. Their rooms are large and well maintained. Breakfast is not that big but it suited me. They had someone cooking omelettes, eggs etc as an extra. Only downfall is the lifts. They were too slow and not in sync and sometimes you were waiting for 15 minutes to get one. They only had two lifts.

Room Tip: Make sure you make it clear that if you want a double bed or queen sized bed, that you make yourself...

We arrived here after the attrocious Rui Cheng Hotel and though it was a few dollars more, it was worth every cent. All the staff were extremely anxious to please, and the hotel had employed some student translators for the duration of the fair to overcome any language issues, whether ordering a meal or booking a trip.
The rooms were clean and internet worked well. Chinese restaurant was fantastic, happy to accomodate special requests. No pool but regular buses to the Canton Fair were a bonus.

We booked this hotel because it was closest to Canton Fair. They also provide shuttle to the fair and not too far from airport.

The rooms are terrible, not very clean and housekeeping doesn't wash dirty cups. My travel partners had to call housekeeping to change bedding because it was filthy and insist on room being properly cleaned.

The breakfast is the worst, only thing we could eat was eggs and bread, would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The Wifi reception is terrible, they don't have business centre.

Totally overpriced, this is more a 2 star hotel.

We picked this hotel based in reviews, but the service is terrible...the people from reception don't even speak English, not the best service since they don't even try to help you! I requested a non-smoking room, and they say all of them are smoking rooms- the room smells so much like cigarettes.

it is a good location for the canton fair, I believe that is the only plus. Make sure you review the receipts at the restaurant.

Two of us have travelled to Guangzhou to visit the famous Canton Fair. While the hotel is located only a few minuets drive from the Pazhou complex, mind you with a complimentary shuttle - the rooms are quite small, ok to a standard - but certainly not what I call a four star hotel. If you speak english, during the fair you can wait to speak to someone who can understand what you need, and accomodate you well. In room, if you enjoy watching tv like myself, you can forget any quality watching, as the rooms have no sky channel or cable to watch tv. The beds are "LIKE ROCK" they are so hard, and with a six night stay I leave with a back that feels like I have my hip welded to my spine and can't move left of right. BEDS ARE VERY HARD, we called house keeping and have layered our beds with three doona/quilt covers to pad them so you can have a small percentage of relief during your nights sleep. Breakfast at the hotel in the "DATES" restaurant, we opted to have the omlette and toast every morning, as the buffet offered a lot of chinese delights - not to a typical western liking, considering the tourism during this time of the fair. There is a local McDonalds down the road a short 5 minute stroll, no coffee shops or cake shops - but one place that we had a very spicy pork chop in a restaurant that did not speak more than a handful of english words, from one staff member! You will need to travel to Shaimain Island for any real food! Worth visiting if you have time!

The hotel is just 15 minutes from the Canton fair Pazhou. Nice neighborhood behind the hotel with restaurants and a lively scene as you walk further away. The rooms are a good size and very clean. The service is friendly and helpful but not very fluent in english. The business center is quite small but they try.
