First of all, and contrary to what it is claimed by the hostel, it is not 10 minutes away from the train station. So if it is a very hot day, this is something to bear in mind. This way you can decide whether or not you want to suffer the horrible sun and hot or you prefer to take a taxi (which by the way should not be very expensive since it is a very direct ride).
The rooms are quite nice, the ac works fine and everything is very clean. The bathroom is not very fancy but it has everything you need and it is clean.
The WiFi is horrible. The same applies for the computers. The internet connection is simply horrible. You cannot make anything.
The staff is very nice and helpful. However this is not true in the case of a young guy at reception. He seems to be angry all the time, and if you ask him anything he seems to be making you a big favour.
We had troubles to find the kitchen open in several occasions...so given that it is not that easy to find lunch or dinner at the hostel, location becomes more important. There are no good restaurants closeby and this was a big drawback for us. Moreover the commercial area and restaurants are located in the other part of the city, around 20/25 minutes walking.
I had a nice time there but there were some issues that would make me consider other options if I came back to Guilin.
